crankbaits

Post by Keith »

There are soo many different types of crankbaits on the market its hard for me to pick out a bait. I have been throwning normans, speed traps and excaliber crankbaits. What are these wooden baits i have been seeing on the market and are the luckycraft lures worth the price. what brand lures do u all like?

hummmmmmmmm....................KranKzzzz.....
i can't say i love them yet!! but i like them and i always have a FEW tied on..i have a deep one, a mid one, and a shallow on.
but i also like rip baits too...try different sizes and styles and try them with different lines too. you can but should always just use one size of a line or one action type rod. crank bait fishing can be just as finicky as plastic fishing...
MY BRANDS..are lucky crafts. i do have others but i only have caught fish on these...now obviously l.c. aren't the only ones that work...so do some shopping and go for what u like...what you like will always work better for you!!!

My Cranks

I am not a "CrankBait Fisherman" and I am new to Nor Cal, but here are my choices.

Norman - Most Sizes
Luhr Jenson- Speed Trap
Luhr Jenson - Radar 10
Bomber

These are the mainstay manufactures. For a tight wiggle in a current situation the Radar 10 is a GREAT NEW addition to my crankbait arsenal.

For crankin' it is mostle normans and excalibur for me. I have been tempted to use LC cranks as well since I am sold on their rip baits but I really don't think a LC crank will outfish the ones I currently use.

i was reading my post and i stated

you can but should always just use one size of a line or one action type rod.

i must have been tired!!..........I MENT YOU SHOULD TRY DIFFERENT SIZES OF LINES DEPENDING ON TYPE OF STRUCTURE YOU THINK U MAY ENCOUNTER ON A LAKE....AND ALSO TRY DIFFERENT RODS TOO....... a medium shimano rod may be a little more beefy than a st. croix ...cranking can be simple or very precise as you want it to be......sky is the limit............................

........................ i like lucky crafts...................

Best crankbait i ever used on Shasta Lake when i lived up there was a Poes Super Cedar 400P crawdad color in spring, white in late summer and early fall during TOC'S . WE sell alot of Lucky Craft here at Don Pedro, I guess because we have them ? But If I had dealership for Poes, which i think is Yakama Bait co. now ??? In Washington. We would sell them,,,,,,,,,,,But for now its the DD22 and Lucky Craft FLATCBD20 and FLATCBDR, run true out of the box, sharpest hooks I ever stuck in my hand, ouch !!

Thank

I fish with them all, but My favorite is the Timber Tiger DC-8.

That bait kicks a Speed Trap's butt, and that's why I fish for them.

A very good Delta bait IMHO.

There is an article about Delta Cranks in the archives and I wrote a short piece about them, and my friends hit upon many other lures.

P.S. The Radar ten is about twelve years old or more. Mr. Seward created it a long time ago for Lure Jensen and someone found the mold. They are calling it an all new lure, but is really a previous design that was never sold. :D
