Curado - 201 E7 vs DHSV??

Post by bpm2000 »

For those who've used both - which reel is better?

I have reels ranging from cardiffs to zillions/calcutta TEs so i am all over the map as far as refinement but I do like powerful reels, no wimpy gearing please (I've used a 301DHSV and liked its power but not necessarily its size/style).

I know the E7 is quite a bit smaller but does it give up anything in strength?

I'll probably be switching it around from frog/pitching/punching duty to maybe some spinnerbaits and power fishing.

thx all

NO, NO, NO, the E-7 is made to do exactly that. Frog, Punch, Flip. Use it as you would. It absolutely gives up nothing to the other. Except the size, and weight. I know it's hard to believe looking at it. However, trust me, that E-7 Palidan gearing is bullet proof tough!

I really like the profile and weight of the 200E7. I purchased one precisely for punching and pitching into heavy vegetation. I have yet to use it. I asked about this in TT forum and someone mentioned that the drag can't be locked down completely, meaning there is slippage. What has your experience been?

I haven't run into that problem? Mine lock down just fine?

+1 the only thing I would add is that you might want to upgrade the bearings. They added an extra one but if i'm not mistaken they are of a lesser quality than the bearings in the DHSV. Can any one confirm this ? Hey Dan if this is true whats the charge to replace with the better bearings going thru you ?
