del valle tips

Post by sam »

Can anyone give me any tips for bass and catfishing at del valle lake. I am most likely gonna be going camping there in two weeks.I will have a boat, its just a 13 foot aluminum boat, it will definately have a electric motor on it and maybe a 9.9 hp gas motor. Can you give me tips, time of day, what to use, and where, if you know good places near the launch that would beeven better but if not any will work. P.S. could you be specific on lures, brands colors, size. Thanks

Try calling Jon at Walton's Pond

From what I understand, a few of Jon's customers fish Del Valle regularly.

Good luck-

Jon does have a lot of customers who frequent Del Valle.......he also personally donated tackle and red worms for the CAST event there last weekend. Jon is a stand up guy and should be supported by users of this forum!

Del Valle

Just fished there last weekend. Only got 3 keepers so I'm not sure how much this will help. I threw top water in the morning before the sun hit the water. Look for areas with weeds and tulies. as the sun came up I thinK the fish moved deeper into The weeds or into deeper water. I had less luck after 10am and seemed to catch more dink fish. later in the day fish came on drop shot and worms. No luck with cranks or blades for me. If you drop shot the vast weedbeds in the south, watchout cause I stuck a 5 lb catfish on the drop shot. Wow what a fight!

A few things to try, for bass.....

Post by Mark Langner »

Our club was out there last month.....we all agreed our most productive bait was a drop shot setup with a marguirita mutilator worm. One of our club members son (this kid was fishing with two broken arms by the way) stuck a fish over 9 pounds on a Senko. I myself got bit on a 5" watermelon black/red flake senko in 30 feet of water but missed my hook set. It would be worth throwing a senko a little bit, but I'd key on the dropshot with the MM roboworm. I threw 6", don't know if the others were using 4" or 6". Our best areas were from the launch ramp to the dam area. I got some nice bass on the sheer rock on the right about half way to the dam.

For Stevens Creek in San Jose...

I'd talk to any of the guys at Fisherman's Warehouse. The shop is about 2 miles from Stevens Creek.

Ask for Glenn or Chad.
