BETHEL ISLAND, Ca - Proving that the old and new generation can co-exist - with deadly force, especially when it comes to bassfishing, the father and son team of Larry and Nick Fraser, took last Saturday's Future Pro Tour title for the central valley region, posting an impressive five-fish limit of bass weighing 21.83 pounds, narrowly edging out the 2nd and 3rd place finishers by less than half a pound.
On a morning that started out on the blustery side, with higher delta winds brewing as the day went on, many of the anglers in the 97 boat field were concerned about their patterns falling apart or even being able to reach their spots. But Larry and Nick quickly expressed to the weigh-in crowd at the grove in Russo's Marina, that "the wind was their friend', as they found the most turbulent water to be just what they needed to stack the deck in their favor.
"We flipped, cranked, and threw spinnerbaits right into the wind, and probably caught over 30 keepers," noted Larry, who also expressed that he played "net man" most of the day as his son Nick seemed to have been "in the zone" all day, putting fish after fish in the boat. "The best thing about this win...is that I got to do it with my son." Larry added.
This was the highest turnout for the central valley region to date, and we would like to thank all of our anglers in the central region for their support and patience as we continue to grow this region for the benefit of the many anglers that fish the motherlode lakes.
The 6th stop on the Tour in the central valley region will be Sept 27th on New Melones. Make your reservations now at Angels Inn Motel where you will get the FPT discount on rooms.
It should be a great late summer/early fall bite!
See you there!
