Striper Report Presented by Fisherman's Warehouse Megastore
Our own, Alan Fong from the Sacramento Fisherman's Warehouse checks in with a striper report from the Delta this weekend. This is what he said:
The stripers were super shallow, so shallow that I even hit one with the trolling motor. I found them in the shallow islands, Sherman, Big Break and Liberty. They go in to the shallow flats chasing squawfish. I was using River2Sea S-Wavers and G-Ratt Sneakly Pete's in 7 and 8 inches. The hitch, bone and a brown carp color. I used both 30 lb, Big Game and 65 lb braid with a 30 lb leader, with an Alberto knot. It's the only one I use. The retieve had to be super, super slow. It is almost like dead sticking the glide bait. In fact, I drilled out the weight on some of 'em so they wouldn't sink as fast and I could dead stick 'em. I'll give you that tip to try, but I have to say it may take a few tries witht the drill before you get it right. It did for me. Good luck out there.
We're looking forward to Alan's Big Striper on Glide Baits seminar this Thursday at 6 p.m. at Fisherman's Warehosue Sacramento. Hope to see you there.
