Dobyns buzzbait rod

Post by Micropterus salmoides »

Would any of you use the Dobyns 733 for buzzbaits around vegetation or do you think that it isn't powerful enough?

I'm using the 734. The 733 sounds a bit light.

The 733 is an extremely versatile rod, it will handle the buzzbait as well as any fish that bites it......because it is a bit on the light side, you may have your work cut out for you horsing 'em out of the grass. bottom line I guess is, if you own a 733 use it.....if your looking to buy a buzzzbait rod, take a hard look at the 734, or even the 735 buzzbait/frog combo!! You're on the right track, you can't go wrong with either rod. In my opinion the 733 and 734 are two of the most versatile rods on the market bar-none.

Good Luck,

The 734 is the rod you want for the buzzbait around any kind of cover . I have thrown some of the smaller buzzbaits on the 733 and it works great in sparse cover, but most of the time i just use it for spooks it is the best rod i have ever thrown a spook on . :)

I just got a 733 and it feels great for buzzbaits, Spooks and Spinnerbaits!! Real soft tip W/good backbone. Cant wait to land some toads on it.

I agree with all thats been said, the 733 does have a lighter tip section, but it still has alot of meat after it loads up, I throw spinners, spooks and such on it. The 734 is just a little heavier through the tip, if your gonna be workin heavy cover it would probably be the better choice, it's also my choice for the Basstrix style swimmers. The two of them are my favorite of the whole line-up. I can pitch senko's, jigs shallow or deep, throw blades, topwater. These two rods have many applications, at least in my opinion :)
