Dobyns Rods Warranty

Post by fishn4bass »

I just spoke to three different Dobyns rod dealers who said they would not over the counter warranty a rod of mine that broke because they didn't want to give up there inventory for a rod that wouldn't be replaced for a month or longer. They did however offer to send it in.When I asked why,the response was the same,"they are redesigning the rods and dont know when they will be available" Doe's anyone know if this is really the case? There warranty states that for fifty dollars a broken rod will be replaced over the counter at any of there authorized dealers..I have six Dobyns rods and this is the first issue I have had. Any info would be appreciated.

I think in a situation like this you would want to contact Dobyns Rods, and notify them that the store is not holding up the express warranty. I am sure you will get action much faster by contacting Dobyns rods then by posting on here.

Yes, please contact the office and let them know that the warranty is not being honored. Also, please PM me with the names of the dealers.

There was a post that did reference something about a issue with Dobyn's rods.

Fellow went to a seminar & Gary Dobyns was the speaker. Gary said that he (& 3 others who use the same mfg) are experiencing higher than normal warranty issues with rods. Because of that, there were not going to be very many rods shipped until the find out/resolve the issue.

This info is what I remember from what someone else posted. In other words, take it for what it is worth. I looked for the post but I can't seem to find it.

Okay, the warranty states a $50.00 no hassle, over the counter warranty at "participating" dealers. They are not required to participate, even though I can't figure why they wouldn't, because when you go to another dealer to get it replaced you are more than likely going to go back to that dealer when you need another rod.

Yes, as stated in another post, we have had some breakage issues and we are trying to correct that. Gary's thoughts were instead of sending them out and trying to cover it up and just deal with the warranty issues that he would rather be up front and honest, quit shipping to dealers so that you, the customer as well as the dealer has to fool with the hassle's of getting it replaced. We thought taking the high road was the best route to take in this matter. We are not out of rods and are still taking care of warranties, and if you'll shoot me a pm with your name, address and phone number I'll do all I can to get your rod replaced with no $50.00 deductible. Sorry for your problem and the hassle you've had, but give us a chance to correct it.

I have 4 Dobyns rods. The only one i havent broken was the swimbait rod. I had a partner set the hook on a frog fish and pieces went everywhere. Even though i have had issues i still love these rods and i hope Gary can get them right. I will continue to by more because i feel Gary personally wants to make a good product.

Thanks Copster. We are having some problems. We have quit shipping to dealers until I get this resolved. All dealers were notified with a phone call. Most of the rods are great, but then one will break VERY easy. I don't want customers, my dealers ,or myself to have to deal with it. Most rod companies have got into a breakage issue one time or another and a couple are have problems right now. As a new company with my name on the rods, I decided the best avenue was quit sending them out until I get a handle on it. The rods at dealers should have been flex tested hard before shipping and "shouldn't" be one of my problem rods. We are warrantying EVERYTHING. If you have a busted rod, please call Sheri at Lamiglas or better yet message her smeyer@lamiglas.com She will fix you right up. Thanks for your time.
