Don Pedro Mocassin warning...
Don Pedro Mocassin warning...
Went fishing out of Mocassin this evening.Pulled out at 9:30 and all the lights were out in the parking lot..Ranger came by and I asked him what was the deal and he said someone cut the power and the bathroom lights were out too...Strange I thought...Well as I pulled on the highway I noticed my trailor lights were out. So I pulled over to check my lights..Thats when I noticed my lights were disconnected and so were my chains..Some aholes tried to steal my trailor..Luckily when they pulled on it my surge brakes locked my coupler or my boat would still be at the lake. Probably good I didn't catch them because I would be doing time..What is with these low lifes...So be ware if you are going there!!!!!

What a shame. At one time I considered Pedro to be my home lake, had that love hate relationship with it much like some marriages. With problems like this it'll keep me away from the area for night time fishing. Secruity or no secruity these fine citizens are just waiting for any oppurtnity.

Johnny as you know I fished last weekend out of fleming. well, I came off the water early and was up by Danny's rig and I see this gentlemen cruzin the parking lot, in 1070's Chevy Red Truck, he was of Hispanic decent and alone. I've never seen him before, he got very nervous when I yelled at him while he was cassin out some ones rig, he didn't see me laying in my drivers seat. I tried to get his plate number, but he went by to fast for my old eyes to pick them up, I geuss I should have not yelled at him so I could have gotten his plate number the ranger siad they have been having some issues that's why they have increased there number of rangers.... I feel badly becuase I think I could have busted the guy had I been thinking straight... Steve

This is what happens when the city moves to the country
Lets all keep a look out and let these guys know we're not going to take this. Out of every crime there is, Molestation and harm to children is the worst you can ever do; steeling is second in my book! Cell phone do not work great at Pedro, so write down lic. plates!

Re: Don Pedro Mocassin warning...
I had my gas stolen at moccasin about a month and half ago.my tank was bone dry, they didn't even leave me enough to get to jamestown.I had to call a relative to bring me some gas at 3 am.Didn't exactly make me happy. So now i have a locking gas cap on my truck.I don't think it would stop them, just maybe deter them. All and all,if you go to launch at mocassin, don't think your vehicle is safe or not being tampered with.In fact i stopped launching there.I thought fleming would be a better bet but apparently not.
Re: Don Pedro Mocassin warning...
Dave's got the right idea. Lets all watch out for each other. It doesn't just have to be at pedro, it can be at Oroville, Berryessa, or wherever. If you see someone messing with someones rig, just write down their license plate. Get a description of the guy and if you see a crime, call the cops.
Especially if you are coming off the water early (like mid-day). If you see someone milling around a parked truck and empty trailer, be especially suspicious.
Its a neighborhood watch...only on a bigger scale.

Re: Don Pedro Mocassin warning...
Be aware of the transients. I can attest that there are numerous transients that make their way to the lakes each holiday to take advantage of the unsuspecting campers, fishermen, and skiers. I work in downtown Modesto and have overheard them talking about how they take advantage of situations. I also talked with one(we caught him stealing) that spends nearly every weekend at Modesto, Woodward, or Turlock lakes stealing from campers who are either on the lake or asleep at night. Be aware, it can happen at any time.
