Drop shot rod.

Post by Bill kizer »

I’m in the market for a new drop shot rod and would like some input. I currently use a 6'8" Shimano clarus med action rod.
I’m looking and comparing the Kistler Mag. TS and the G-Loomis Drop shot rod. Am I going the right direction or should I consider other brands. These two rods are in the price range I’d like to spend. Should I rethink and spend more, or is this a good choice?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, if your in the $250.00 range. The rods you mention are good rods, but check out Esoxfishingrods.com and Stevescustomrods.com. Esox has some great drop shot rods and Steve Biechman can make you a great drop shot rod. I have some of each and they are sweet. Bill K :)

Bill,
Make sure you check out the Powell 681 and 701, these are awsome rods, If you are in the market for a rod that compares with the ones you mentioned and would like to save some money this is the rod I woud buy.
The 681 is a 6'8" and the 701 is a 7'

Try a Powell MAX, they are the best rods going right now IMO. Check out the following models:

Powell 681 L Fast
6'8" Light Fast Action, 4-10 lb. Test 1/8-3/8 oz

Powell 681 L Ex-Fast
6'8" Light Ex Fast Action, 4-10 lb. Test 1/8-3/8 oz

Powell 701 L Fast 7' Light Fast Action, 4-10 lb. Test 1/8-3/8 oz

Powell 701 L Ex-Fast 7' Light Fast Action, 4-10 lb. Test 1/8-3/8 oz

Each retails for $170. Have fun shopping

Steve Biechman makes the best dropshot rod you can find. Ultra sensitivity and strong at the same time. All his rods are the top of the line !
