does anyone out here confidently dropshot at night? the one time i actually dropshotted was about 5 a.m on clearlake, maybe not night, but it was still pitch black. I wasn't doing this to test it out, i just had nothing else i could throw that effectively. I ended up sticking a 3 lb fish, and a 6 lb fish on a 6" robo worm mm. there were a lot of lights in the area, but still the water didnt have the greatest clarity and it wasnt by any means bright with the lights.
do you guys think this was just a random incident or is dropshotting actually effective at night? im guessing in clearer water it may be a better bait than in stained, but im not one to say...
Dropshotting at Night
I've caught many fish....
drop shotting at night. Not my preferred technique but it works. I would usually use bulkier baits for more water displacement. Plus using braid makes the softest bites feel like they are hammering it and makes it easier to get out of cover...just wrench 'em!

Drop-shotting will work at night, and the water clarity really doesn't matter that much. I suggest that you use thick worms, like a 5 or 6 inch zipper worm, or 6 inch Yamamoto grub in a dark color. Adding Smelly Jelly doesn't hurt either! It's the vibration that draws the strike. Good luck!

I will usally throw a black/red brush hog at night nest bait I have used. I think d-shotting is better in the morning than night even if it is still dark. Although drop shotting will catch fish all the time I feel there are usally more effective may to catch em.

Drop shotting at night
I've heard that the boys down south have been attaching a rattle to the bottom of their mojo drop shot sinker with a bit of shrink tube and keeping the hook fairly close to the bottom. This really helps the fish locate the worm. They can see a lot better at night than we think.
Drop shotting is perfect for night fishing in deep lakes..
Instead of blind casting at a fuzzy bank you are dropping right on arches on your backlit depth finder..What can be easier than that.

Drop shotting at night
in So Cal has probably won more night tournaments than any other technique. Clear water here makes dropshotting mandatory. Throw a 7" Roboworm in Margarita Mutalator on full moon nights and Black/neon blue on dark nights. Use about a 6" leader. If it is windy and cloudy you can get away with 10lb line, if not 8lb flouro.
