ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! - It’s time to PUT UP or SHUT UP!

Post by Ron C »

Who is the Heavyweight Bass Champion? Is it one of the Bass Posse? Is it one of the Bass Outlaws? Is it one of the other Big Bait specialists? Or is it someone who we have never even heard of before? Let’s find out and settle this once and for all.

I have just secured a sponsor for the for the inaugural “Heavyweight Bass Classicâ€

It will be better than that! It will be hand made by one of the most talented artists out there - some guy named Ken Huddleston. Oh, and by the way, he is also the title sponsor of the event.

It will be video taped (including interviews of contestants, sponsors, etc.) and the weigh-in will be aired live (via streaming video) on the Huddleston Deluxe website. There is also a good chance that it will receive National attention through FLW, B.A.S.S., and Bass Fan (oh, and of course Westernbass.com).

It will be BIG!

But is also pretty silly.. or should I say doesn't mean much because EVERYBODY knows big bass fishing isn't a one day one time thing.

I think its safe to say we wouldn't be surprised if a local or total newb for that matter won. I would say everybody's got a fair shot since it is after all only about ONE fish.

Good luck to all!

Ron,

You forgot the most important angler of our modern time. Randall, our expert 10 pound plus angler who graced this website with his challenges to all a few months back is obviously game for this. I'm sure he can get $200 from his mom's purse to cover the entry.

Calling Randall....... Are you out there???????

I'll help sponsor though for sure. I'll donate a piece of art, a 30"x40 of mine of choice, valued at $12 grand. Who do I talk to about it?

at 50 spots it is very posible that some big names could get left out. Maybe you should have and early entry for the top 20 guys.
I would also like to play. I have never fished that lake but I can get lucky every once in a while.

kb - Come on down! Ultimate Bass Radio ROCKS!

Actually, I was hoping some of the Nor Cal guys would be interested, which is why I posted it on the Northern board, too (and one of the reasons why we are starting our sign-ups at the Bass-A-Thon, when a lot of Nor Cal guys will be down here). But, just as I figured would happen, they missed the point entirely and began boasting about Bobby this and Bobby that and how he won $50K and not only $10K (and how many boats did they have? Wasn't it like 250?)

I'm sorry, but $10K for a 50-boat $200 entry fee solo tournament is absolutely cutting edge stuff and is unprecedented. (Gee, I wonder how long it will take for this one to get knocked off?).

Hey - How about you talk Bobby into fishing it - Now wouldn't THAT be classic? I believe that Ken is going to give Bass Don a call to tell him about it. This is right up his alley (along with Fish Chris). I'm sure we'll see a lot of the great Nor Cal sticks show up when we bring it up North.

Ken will be posting more info about it on the Huddleston Deluxe website soon.

Thanks for dropping in down here.

Ron C

Sounds like Ron C. lots of the Southern guys are fired up. One question they did have was about a off-limits period. Cutoff the Mon-Thursday up to the 25th? Please advise. Rick G.

yes DougH I know its not exactly fair but if your trying to get the best of the best together you should give them a little preference.
What I am trying to say is it would be sad if somebody like Mike Long, Butch Brown, etc couldnt get in because sombody like me got the last spot. I just think the 50 spots will fill up real fast and I think the more big names the better it will be. Maybe just the 10 biggest names or so. In any case I think the format is awsome and I will try and fish it. I have never fished a tournament before and I have never been to Casitas but I think I can get a bite or two.

Ron,

GREAT IDEA but this looks like just another tournament on Castias... If your gonna call out the BIG BASS CROWD. Then make it true BIG BASS Tournament!!! 8 inches and above lures only....
We all no that my Grandmother could go out on Casitas and throw out a 4" worm get REALLY lucky and catch a TEEN fish....
Does that make her The BIG BASS KING. NOPE!!!

If your gonna call them out then TRUELY CALL THEM OUT!!!
BIG BAITS ONLY!!!!

Personally I think it would be awesome to see one of the locals or little guys go out there with a 4 inch worm and spank the big bait guys. Could you imagine the bruised egos and pissin, bitchin, whinin and moaning about that one!! If it was that easy to catch a teen fish on a worm at Casitas everybody would be doin it. It's just as likely for a random person to get lucky with a swimbait and stick a teener, especially if the big bait bite is wide open. The reason that doesn't happen is because the random people and little guys aren't chuckin swimbaits so it doesn't happen and you don't hear about it. If someone prefishes their *** off for two months and is on a killer jig bite, why handicap them with a 8 inch or bigger limitation? I say, fish your strength and if you can't beat the field then it's just not your day. If you're a big bait guy and can't handle being beat by a worm or jig guy, then shut up and go home.

Ron C, how do I get my name in to be a backseat referee??

Who's in for the side bets on the winner???? I don't even know who's fishin it yet...but here is my list in no particular order:

Shaun Bailey
Paul Bailey
Larry Elshere
Matt Newman

I would love to see BassinDon and FishChris down here too!!
