Favorite swim and flippin jig for the delta

I read in Field and Stream that Randy Howell likes to throw a Lunker Lure Original Rattleback and I started to think if it can stand up to our grass. What do you guys think? How about trailers? I just like the Berkely twin tail grubs but I wonder how one of those rage tails or chunk trailers might work? Lastly, I flip beavers all day but I think I want to use something that might hold up a little better. Any ideas?

A good Arky jig is tough to beat, they are good for flippin/pitching, and in a pinch can easily be employed as a swim jig since the head is relatively wide and flat.
Another good choice would be a brush head like Revenge or anything with a dynamic shape and integrated line tie.

The Strike King Rage chunks are a good swimming trailer, but the action isn't great at slow speeds, that's where the Superpork of a SK Denny Brauer Chunk comes into play.

If you can't separate your self from tossing the beaver, a lightweight "Punching" setup (1/4 -1/2 oz.) is a good choice, plus that skirt gives you alot bigger profile.

I have to agree in part with dan. I have almost switched all my jig throwing to punch skirt set ups with different weights/trailers depending on the application. I have alot of success with the 1/4oz bullett, punch skirt, and paca craw around light grass and structure.

Arkey head jigs are tough to beat for flippin. I really like the dirty jigs pitchin jig for almost all of my jig fishing. Half ounce and three quarter. I just started getting into swim jigs this past year and did quite well with the dirty jigs no jack jig and swim jig. The no jack has the most incredibly strong hook i have ever found in a jig.

How about colors. I like green pumpkin with a little orange. I think the water is and has been so clear, you have to use really natural colors.

Color wise, now that's a whole 'nother question.
You got the right mindset with "clear water colors" and that really is the clincher, matching your jig to water clarity. Matching to the color of forage can be an importatnt aspect, but water clarity is the first thing to consider in picking a jig color that will get the most bites.

Rule of thumb:
Clear water: light green to brown hues
Stained: light green to brown hues with accent color (blue, purple, red, chartreuese, etc.)
Murky water: Black with accent colors
Freakishly muddy water: Black/blue with a huge trailer!

As far as jigs I like Ganns 6.0 flippin' jig and the hummer jig for pitchin' & swimmin'. A few colors would be black & blue chrome, Delta craw & ugly.
As far as trailers for Flippin'... Yamamoto double tails, paca craws, Sweet beavers & smallie beavers and as always....you gotta love pork! for swimmin'... A sinlge tail, split tail or a swimmin' senko.

Thanks for all the replies. I picked up a variety of different jigs that were suggested. Now to learn to use them. This year is gonna be awesome, I just have the feeling.

Deadly large mouth jig!!!! And A little known secret SHHHHH trim the skirt A lot shorter and spots and smallies like them too!!!!! SHHH but don't tell anyone

Pepper Jigs give you the best of both worlds. You can flip, pitch and swim them. The pro series comes standard with a 5/0 hook and they flat out catch fish. They are reasonable priced and available at Bass Tackle Depot a board sponsor. As far as colors go, Refer to bassmandan's post earlier, he is dead on!!
