Looking at The HD7 lowrance and the humminbird 997 si combo.

The humminbird has side imaging, but supposedly so will the lowrance with an upgrade that is comming....making these unit the same price..or near enough.

I have never had a fishfinder anywhere near these two, but obviously I want to pick a good choice.

The BPS loves the lowrance, but I've seen critical reviews....and the internet seems to love the humminbird....The diffrence is kinda like pc vs. mac...but I can't be sure what to do.
