Fishing Berryessa for first time

Post by rickd »

Now that I got this new truck I’m able to fish places I’ve never been. I have a club tourney next weekend and seeking some info on the lake?

Anyone have the water temp?
What colors should I toss, black blue / brown purple?
Should we drop-shot, spoon, crank most the day?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Right on, I'll be in a silver F150 with an older silver / red Ranger.

Where to put in if I'm coming from the Bay area?

I put in at Markley Cove ($15) at the South end of the lake but I am coming from Sacramento. I am not sure what is closer for you. I go 80 to HYW 113 North in Davis go to the second exit road 31(not sure of the name) turn left stay on road 31 through Winters and it takes you right to the lake. Store and launch are just past the damn. Takes me just A little over an hour.

When I fish Berryessa I am coming from Concord and I will use either Spanish Flat or Capell Cove. Spanish is more protected security wise, but costs more as Capell launch is free. I have used both and had no problems with either of them. In my opinion those are the closest ramps when coming from the Bay Area.

I have heard of vandalism at Capell

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

I will be going out of Spanish flat. That is closer to Benicia than Markley and less expensive as well as much closer to mid lake, giving you more readily available as to locations to fish. I havent been there since last summer so I want to thank you guys who have shared some tips on what to use.
I will be driving a 2006 Dodge Hemi half ton pickup Lacense plate is my last name (Conlow) Silver color. Am driving a red white and blue 21 foot Legend with 225 Merc Opti. Say hello I may have some good info by tomorrow morning.

Jim,

I may look you up out there. Me and the wife are heading out from Capell. I'll be in a white Toon with black stripes. I'll be Hudd fishing all day but I have to get my wife bit on her dropshot rig.

Hope to see you out there.

Hey Rick Im going out to pre-fish Wednesday next week. Tim and are are going to try to figure out a pattern or 2? if you can get the day off i know one of the guys in the club that wants to prefish (non-boater) that could help with the costs.

Rick & Rich;

You guys are killing me. I haven't caught a fish since last October!! :( :? My new trailer is under my boat now and I'm itching to get out.

I can't prefish for this tourny because I'm taking Tuesday off and need to work Wed-Fri. However, I am going to Vegas with the family for the next 4 days and plan to ransack BPS while I'm there. I'm sure I'll buy that one very special lure there that will win me the "T"!!

Good luck prefishing!! (Rich, make sure you save a few fish for the "T" so you you can win your bet with you know who!!)

Sounds like it's going to be a little crowded this weekend.

I'll be there as well. Going out of Capell in my partners Triton.

Good luck, should be fun?

I was there today and will be back up tomorrow. I launch out of Steele Park. Black/Silver Stratos. I really need to find some fish.

Well I think I'm ready for Berryessa. Just dropped $400.00 over at Walton's, picked up a Powell 711H and the Shimano Cardiff 400A. I just want one swimbait fish to justify the expense. This is THE last rig for me

We're going out of Spanish bay to meet up with Conlow in the morning.

How much time for travel from Byron should we give ourselves to the pond, I was figuring 2 hours?

Slippy, he's already talking trash... I just might give him the boat so I don't have to hear his mouth!
