Flipping and pitching LINE???

Post by BassManDan »

Simply another poll to satisfy my curiosity. If you use a leader, please vote for the leader material. What you use the most.

My vote was for braid over 30 but I use 65 with a 25# Flouro leader.

I don't use the same weight line for both pitchin' and flippin. I use 14-16# fluoro for pitchin' and 20 or 25# fluoro for flippin'

That depends on which of the four flipping sticks you're asking about... :D :D

I have 20lb Maxima or Seaguar fluorocarbon on one.
I have 20lb Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent on another.
I have 50lb Power Pro braid on the 3rd.
I have 65lb Power Pro braid on the 4th.

Wow - I wish I had that many flippin sticks!

I have the same setup as Hubspinna Flippin 20lb Flurocarbon
Pitchin 16lb Fluorcarbon
Pitchin Senkos and light stuff - 14-15lb flurocarbon.

I use flurocarbon as I just HATE using braid -daggum backlash finiky line that snaps when I dont want it to...

SOCB,
I can agree, that braid is not my favorite wouldn't dream of flip/pitch with it, but it is a neccesary evil for tossing the shellcracker.

All in all It seems that most folks are on the lighter side of things, i'm a little suprised.
Thanks for all the input,

I flip a lot in heavy stuff down here a local lake. Here are my setups;

Old Daiwa Procaster Flip Stick w/ 30lb. braid for light flippin' and heavier pitchin'.

XPS Extreme Woo Daves Flip Stick w/ 20lb. Seaguar Flouro for jigs and average sized weights

Lamiglas Premier 7'MH w/ 14lb. Seaguar flouro with something like a Senko or fishin' docks with tubes

I plan on buying a Dobyns 805 Champion when it gets out for my puch rod. I usually punch with 3/4-1 1/2 oz weights and 50 lb. braid.

2 powell 765, both have shimano castaic reels. one is spooled w/ 30lb suffix braid the other w/ 40lb braid. noth rods start off with a 7' leader of 17- 25lb leader.......it depepends on the lake or river and it's attitude. I will pitch and flip w/ both rods

1 g.loomis glx 894 senko rod. matched with a curado 100. spooled w/ 40lb suffix. again leader starts off at 7' 17 or 20lb. pitching or flipping.

2 shimano crucial 7'11" flipping sticks both matched with shimnano curado 200bsf, loaded with 25lb black water "Toray" (the only mono i like!!)...no leader

1 powell 734 matached with a cronarch 100 spooled with 20lb florocarbon.

all leader material is p-line florocarbon NOT FLORO CLEAR....
