Frank's Track duck blinds

I fished a tournament Sunday out of Bethel Island, while running across the tract staying well clear of any binds, it was unevitable to go through a ton of coots that were floating ahead of me, needless to say these fowl were up and getting out of the way,

Does this upset the pattern for duck hunters in any way?
I didnt hear any buckshot go by my ears...LOL

If you do not kill at least 13 coots w/your boat............ You are not doing it right !!




Seriously watch out at night -- They bunch up even tighter togther... and Bifferz and I almost took some to the head 3 weeks back.


Also- Not all the blinds are lighted as they should be. Comming back across Franks Saturday night with no moon- I motored up to a line with lights as my guide in front of me to steer clear of any floating obsticals before I got and stayed on pad.





Reguardless-- I still took out some coots that were bunched up tight togther and I had no idea that they were there until it was late in the splash zone !!

Actually it helps us! Someone or something needs to scare them up and get them flying towards us so we can shoot em! Forget the Coots, flush out those Mallards!

Are coot legal to shoot? They aren't in my state of origin.

Over here in South Florida we run alot of open flatlands/marsh in the everglade's. It's basically 200 square miles of endless flats 2' deep full of gators and bass. During hunting season you have to be really careful becasue you have to create trails through sawgrass, lilly pads, toolies and weed banks. I have had guy's jump out of their blinds waving glow sticks and their guns showing us where they are so we dont run them over. I have been 2-3 feet away from taking out a duck blind at 75. There is no regulating were you can hunt so we are all fishing and hunting around each other.

Are coot legal to shoot?

Yes- They are highly prized though --- So they set the limit at 25 per peron/per day................


Like I said- I have a Sausage recipe for them and boots lips that is really awesome if you want it.

I was out today and musthave killed about 3-5times the 13 dan specified!! One almost took my head off!! If it wasnt for my windsheilds I would probably have a pretty badly busted up face!! And also last winter when I was out the same thing happened so I knew to duck down as low as possible! It was a pretty good laugh though!!

The Franks family once farmed a 400 acre tract of land in the Delta but after its last flooding in 1937 the Franks decided not to reclaim it and let the flooded tract remain a lake. I don't think they ever operated a track of any sort though...

It's named after the Franks family so there's no apostrophe in Franks Tract (none of the other ag tracts named after families have apostrophes either)...

Running through a flock of coots at high speed in very dangerous. They are a slow bird and panic quickly. You could get someone in your boats neck broken. And these little buggers will crap all over you!!!

Clear Lake has had an influx of those crazy Arctic Terns. They acted like they were going to get out of your way but would change courses and dart in front of you at the last second. During the NG tournament my partners and I had to duck down several times to avoid them. Plus the coots, ruddy ducks...those ruddys crack me up when they panic and flop into the water at the last second...not a graceful entry...LOL!
By the way...I have never seen so many shellcracker grebes (i think thats what they are) and mergansers on CL as this year.
