Popular Port Hueneme sportfishing skipper John Fuqua and partner Ryan Young, also of Port Hueneme, put down their saltwater gear and picked up their bass fishing gear and captured their first ever J&T Tackle Night Team Tournament Series victory on Saturday evening, July 28th at Lake Casitas in Ventura County. Under a bright full moon, the pair topped the 48-team field with a five-fish limit weighing a very impressive 30.19 pounds. Included in their bag was a huge 11.24 pounder, the largest bass of the contest.

Well run event Ron...
Props to You and your staff for your efforts...
I fished this event with Barry ,aka "NetB****", here on westernbass. It was his first tournament ever.
He has been wanting to do a tournament so I figured what better way to get him started than to let him experience Casitas at night.
We threw buzzbaits for the 1st two hours with no takers. Then I bust out the dropshot and caught one on my 1st cast. Then Barry yelled, "I got one" and I netted our 2nd keeper. Then five minutes later I got our 3rd keeper.
Then we made a quick move accross the cove and Barry said, "I got one". I asked him how it felt and he said "okay". As it came up next to the boat it became apparent that it was better then "Okay". It was a 5+ LBER. After I missed it with the net 2-3 times
we were finally able to get it in the boat. Barry let out a HUGE yell because he had just landed his biggest bass ever. ( 5.24 lbs.) Thanks for giving him a courtesy weigh Ron.
A few minutes later he caught a rat. Then I told him I was going to throw a bait that I always seem to catch 8lbers on. (8" curly tail Gee Gee bait black zipper) On the first cast I feel "tick". I reel down and cross its eyes. Just then a donkey comes flying out of the water next to the boat. I work it around to the deep side and after Barry got done fumbling with the net light, falling down and swinging and missing the fish 2 times, she was in the boat. She weighed 7.37 lbs. We caught a few others the rest of the night and time seemed to fly by. We wished we had another hour to get another "good one", but it wasnt to be.
We ended up in 12 place, 3 spots (mere ounces) out of a check.
We didnt cash a check but I think Barry is HOOKED.
It was a fun time....
