Gary Klein has been an anchor and innovator in professional fishing for more than four decades. Popularizing the “flipping” technique, winning two B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year titles, and with Texas Parks and Wildlife and others, designing the revolutionary “Catch, Weigh, and Immediate release” tournament format to increase bass survival. Klein and fellow pro-angler Boyd Duckett would take that format to co-found Major League Fishing, ushering in a new era of the sport. Klein generously has given back through volunteer work at the Texas Brigades-Bass Brigade youth leadership camp and extensively with military veterans.
Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor those who have made a lasting contribution to freshwater fishing in Texas and to foster awareness and appreciation of and participation in the sport of fishing.
