Golden Mussel Inspections

Post by BASNFAN »

I hope to be fishing Berryessa early to mid March and I need to get my boat cleared before hand before the 30 day quarenteen. I believe you have to make an appointment. Can anyone provide me with a number to call? Also, are the inspections done only at certain ramps or marinas? Thanks in advance!
Fish bite twice a day - half hour before I get there and half hour after I leave.

Any vessel wishing to launch in Lake Berryessa sooner than the required 30-day quarantine period must have a hot-water decontamination performed by certified Lake Berryessa staff. These vessels are allowed to launch immediately following decontamination. Decontaminations performed at another facility will not be valid unless a seal is applied to the vessel and appropriate paperwork is presented.

DECONTAMINATIONS ARE PERFORMED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Scheduling a decontamination is free, however, a credit card is required to hold the reservation. There is a $103.3 ($100 plus $3.3 processing fee) for no shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. Due to the high number of no shows and the increased demand, a fee has been instituted. In order to cancel in advance, please use the cancellation or reschedule feature found in your confirmation email. Decontaminations will take place at Steele Canyon Recreation Area, 1605 Steele Canyon Road, 6 miles north off highway 12 and at Markley Cove at 7521 CA-128, Napa, CA 94558. Additional decontamination units are currently being constructed and new locations around the lake will be coming soon.

All decontamination reservations must be made 24 hours in advance and will be on a first come, first served basis. We are unable to accommodate cancellations made in less than 24 hours prior to the time of the appointment.

If there are no openings available on the calendar, it means that everything is currently booked. Currently we are only opening reservation appointments 1-2 weeks out due to staffing and equipment availability.

Decontamination- Fishing Boat, Bass Boat, Ski Boat, Jet boat, Pleasure Boat
45 minutes @ $103.30

As of this morning Markley had availability today but Steele wasn't available til the 8th

Hopefully you realize that you don't have to wait 30 days if you get a decontamination.

To your knowledge is there a complete list of lakes with golden mussel restrictions?

A few day ago I learned that you can go to Gone Fishing Marine in Dixon and they will attach the tag/seal to your boat - no fee, no appointment necessary. I did that today and I was in and out of there inside 10 minutes. When the quarentine is up 2nd week of March, I will be ready to fish.
