GPS Module not responding on LMS 332'S

Post by SKIPER »

I have a Lowrance LMS 332 on the console and another on the bow. The GPS antenna puck has gone bad twice before and the GPS is not working again. I replaced the LGS 2000 with an LGC 4000 and used 127-05 network adapter. I get a message "GPS module not responding." I checked the connections on the units and also verified that the splitter connections are tight.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem?

Addl info: Ken,the units are actually LMS 337's but don't have the dual frequency, making them 332's per Anglers Marine who initially installed them. The NMEA 2000 adapter cable (127-05) says "5-pin male red connector to 5-pin male blue connector," but my unit has a blue to black connector. Does that make a difference?

I didn't get a reply on this forum but got some info from "Troy" at Lowrance customer service. He said since my 337's (332's since only one frequency) are older models, I will have to input the updates into my units before the antenna will work. He is even sending me the SD card with needed updates...can't beat that for product service. Hopefully this is all I need. If not, Troy said to call back and they will walk me through other options.

When I get the card I'll input results for those with similar problem.

When the NMEA network changed from the older blue connectors Lowrance went to the red, smaller connectors. The change from red to black is color only, both are interchangeable.

Thanks for calling customer service. I was practicing for a tournament on Santa Margarita Lake and hadn't been on here for a couple days, sorry.

No problem Ken and good luck on your tournament. I received the SD card in the mail today. It only took a moment to download the updates and the GPS is now working.

Good customer service is what keeps us purchasing Lowrance products.

Thanks Skiper,

Lowrance has really worked hard on their customer service with ongoing training and it shows. They added people too so the wait times when you call are almost nothing.

As for my team tournament at Santa Margarita ABA tournament, we won with 17.50 lbs. Big fish of the tournament on a swimbait and the rest on YUM Dingers and Houdini Worms. You can go to my web site and click on my tournament pics and stories page to see pictures and a short story of the day.
