I need a little help. I have grown accustomed to Maxima Chameleon. I use 15lb test for lighter presentations such as jigs, rattle traps, spoons and 20 lb for topwater plugs or the larger presentations. I am talking stripers now. It has worked very well for me with only a handleful of break offs over the last 20 years.
So what is the least expensive high tech recommendation for me to come up to the year 2009 technology.
I really don't have a clue. There is flourocarbon, braid, fiber, etc..,etc. I don't what all this means. And I don't want to experiment.
So your recommendations are great. Again easy on the pocket book please, don't make me stick with Maxima.
Thank you in advance.
I have used the same line for 25 yrs... yes 25 years! So...

If your just talk'in Stripers,
Line > Mono > Big Game in Green (Better than clear) in my opinion.
Brain> Power Pro or some use and like Fireline
For me I use Big Game and I found over the years that McCoy will hold up very well.

+1
CXX is as strong as rope, only down side is a bit stiff but strong.

T,
65# powerpro moss green all the way. You can jackpole 10# stripers right into the boat.

Hey Patrick,
I really want it for the spooks and lunker Punkers along with swimbaits. How does it cast and does the line cut thru the spool into the line?

Well you know what a birds nesting klutz I am and since switching to powerpro I have had much less issues. I have had to horse some BIG fish out of the trees this year and have not broken any off. I have had hooks pull out though! Not cheap however, but every rod on my deck now is powerpro strung from 30-65#. Punker, spook and frog rods all at 65#
