Help fishing at Folsom

Post by adamsj13 »

Hi All. I need some advise on where to fish Folsom. I'm fairly new at fishing and not sure what to use. I will be on a boat. Where should I start fishing? What lures should I use and any certian way to fish them? Thanks all for you help.

Going out on Sunday with my partner. we will be fishing Football head jigs with hula grubs, C-rig lizards, and some top water in the morning. These baits should catch you some fish. I have not been out there in a while so I don't know how the fishinf is. Darter heads should work also. I'm sure Wooch can give you some advice. Gonna see if there biting Senkos also. Good Luck. :D

"First time on Folsom and fairly new to fishing"
Hmmm...well, first things first...with this good weather there's going to be a MILLION boats/watercraft out there. The best thing would be for you to get out there EARLY and stay until about 11am. I would recommend either the north fork...or south fork (from what I understand there are fish to be had in both).

I'm assuming that you are wanting to fish with artificial lures (not live bait) so the most basic ways to catch fish tomorrow is:

1. Darthead - 1/4oz
2. Dropshot
3. Carolina Rig

Get some 4" or 6" Roboworms in either Warmouth or Aaron's Magic color. Find some points with a little wind blowing into them and cast as close to the bank as possible. Work the bait back to the boat slowly...stopping to shake the bait a little every so often.

If you need anymore info, there's some good articles on our website http://www.FolsomBassLeague.com or you can simply PM me and I'll help where I can.

Good Luck! :D

Hey G-man, you gonna be out there looking for trouble again? I think if you dress in some coveralls and have a dirty hanky hanging out your back pocket they might leave you alone  . I'm just playing, I know that touched a nerve last time.

I'll be out there Sunday as well. Once it warms up a bit I'll be sporting some very comfortable attire, including my favorite tank top.

Stop by and say hello, if you can stomach it  .

There should be a spook bite early and Senkos as the day progresses. I'll be looking toward the back of coves-
good luck.
I had to come back...I know...

wooch wrote::D Nice boat and the novice thing, forget about it, just try to learn as much as you can, we all started out that way. Assume you will launch from Granite Bay ramp. Take a right towards the dam and turn to the giant cove to your right, go all the way back to the trees. Early five or six casts with a topwater if wind is not bad. If it doesn't work toos a weightless Senko around trees and let go to the bottom, if fish are there, I doubt it will reach the bottom. Try the deeper trees first then proceed shallower, if you see a bed fish or bed back off for a few minutes and blind cast to it. If that doesn't work(I'm pretty sure it will), Try a slow moving chatterbait dow the riprap face then try the above procedure in the pocket coming up. Stay in that creek and fish all the shallow stuuf you can(a lot of fish are up on the flats). Try dragging or tossing a dart head(1/8) around to 15 feet as many fish will have pulled off to the deeper water. Around 10:00 start throwing that swimbait everywhere. Good luck, Jim  8)
Thanks alot. I will let you know how I do :) I really appreciate all you advice.

Im thinking of going for a couple of hours this evening. Can you help with some advise? Should I still go to the first big cove towards the dam and use same lures? Thanks
