Help Oppose statewide ban on lead ammunition

Post by DeltaDan »

To All, The California Fish and Game Commission has had posted the proposed regulations for big game hunting that include the bans on lead ammunition.

Big Game Species that will no longer be allowed to be hunted with lead ammo- Deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, black bear, or wild pig.

Ammo types affected- bullets, muzzle loading balls, slugs and buckshot. This means rifle, handgun, shotgun, and muzzleloaders.

Hunt zones where ban is to take place: South Unit A Deer Zone, all of Deer zones D9, D10, D11, and D 13.

Counties affected: Monterey, San Benito, Western Fresno, Kings, Western Madera, Western Tulare (sliver), San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Most of Kern, Ventura, Los Angeles County contained with Zone D 11 (at least 50%, mostly in the north part of the county)

The Fish and Game Commission is scheduled to hear this issue on either March 1, or March 2, 2007 at their meeting in Arcata at Humboldt State University.

They are starting to further chip away at us- and many people will support this because it is for the most part, an anti-hunting movement.

The Natural Resources Defense Council has already begun it's side of the public comment process. In an email alert to those on it's mailing list, it is calling for comments in support of a ban on lead-based ammunition in California. As such, it would behoove the shooting public in California to write the Fish and Game Commission in opposition to a ban predicated upon only 5 condor deaths since 1967 objectively attributed to lead. More objective evidence is needed before lead bullets, and not other conditions in the environment, are proven to be the pre-eminent threat to the current population of bred-in-captivity condors from surviving release in the wild

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.
