Help!Removing seats from 95 Ranger 488VS

Post by TonyL »

Hello all , I'm trying to get to the fuel tanks, need to remove seat. Not same type of seat as shown in owners manual.Seats In my boat are sort of like a couch,1 full piece (seats 3,with no seat back in the middle.sort of like 2 buckets with a center pad and small seat back)the seat back is contoured to rear deck.I've removed 2 screws from front of seat bottoms which allows me to rockthe seat back but its still anchored at the back left and right side.By prying I can see wood screws come thru the seat back into rear deck vertical support. The screws are covered by the seat back cushion, which I 've pulled on but wont come out.I'm close to rip/tear mode guys , any help would be appreciated.Hopefully someone out there has a similar model. Thanks in advance.

Tony they have " U " shaped clips on the fiberglass and hooks on the seat..Just tip the top of the seat forward and not back..If you pull the back up and forward the seat will pop right up....

Thanks man! The urgency??I just got the boat in Aug.Now that I want ta take her to her first club tourny (as my boat)it's developed a fuel odor which I'm told more likely is sending unit gaskets.I'll probably need to order parts and need the boat Saturday. I really need this checked out tonight (the only free time I've had in a long time)so that I can hopefully get parts this week .Thanks again!!The boat thanks you also(I was ready to rip and tear).Again THIS IS AN AWESOME SITE WITH AWESOME PEOPLE!!!

Tony , I had the same problem a few years back and all I had to do was tighten the screws down holding the sending units and problem solved . If you don't receive the new gaskets in time you could try this for now . I not only had fuel odor around the bench seat but also gas pouring out of the tank when launching on steep ramps .
