Hey Cooch

Post by Grant »

Cooch (or any other jig throwers on the Delta), what color are you using to catch your jig fish now? I will be out this weekend and wanted to know if Black/Blue is still good or have the crawdads changed color and caused the jig bite to switch to another color?

Thanks in advance,
Grant

it has a lot ta do with crawdad color right now. I just came out from the back yard, and there were two new dads in my trap, and they are really dark red and black. They are the same color as the ones I captured in January. The black/Blue bite that was so good all February and March, has faded. Yet they are still eating it. I think that is more related to water temps and the stained water conditions. There's definately a correlation with black/blues and dark purples, that git ya more bites on this River when the temps are cooler.

I have though, since it warmed up, been catching better fish on the brown jigs with the blue or purple trailers. There are a lot of gills and breem now showing up in the shallows! I'm rotating between colors, as I always do. I've just noticed a much better bite on the browns. I have been picking that rod up first and sticking with it, with more confidence, as of late than the black jigs. Although, if we used the sales numbers of the TNT Wadda down at the Hook, the black bite is still on! LOL Be prepaired to use both!
