Because of budget restrictions, i use my reel and rod for more than one type of fishing application, so i will load 40 or 50 yards of line on the reel over backing.
With the more expensive lines today at $25.00 to $30.00 even the small amount of line that i have used in the past is starting to get way expensive to just toss in the trash.
What I would like to do is wind it back onto the spool in came on to save for the next outing. I fish many lakes and the delta so I am switching lines out a lot. but it seems a big hassle to try to hand wind it back on the spool and to try to get it on even so it runs back onto the reel the right way next time i use it.
Any suggestions?
How do I save my line from the reel ?

I made a mandrel for a used spool that fits in my cordless drill. Another option is to have several spools for your reel.

I also made a mandrel for this purpose. The bad part is like most lines there is memory issues BUT really works great for braid. The other thing i do is put the line back on in reverse and that way im using practicly brand new line!!!
