This email, redacted some, came in at 4:20AM this morning to my TTS email address.
That’s a little past normal, most of these types of messages come in between 11pm until midnight or so. Sometimes I’ll get up and answer right away, other times I’ll just lay in bed and wonder.
In the dark I can vision a parent, many times it turns out to be a single parent, a woman, no place else to turn, no one else to ask.
I have never fallen back asleep after one of these comes in.
Now upfront, do I know it to be real, or a scam, in the 12 years of doing this, I’m not a math major but about 10%-12% of the requests we get turn out to be less than truthful.
I’ll run this down tomorrow, we’ll know pretty quick, I make no commitment or judgement until my gut tells my brain it’s okay.
I’m 50/50 on this right now.
But that’s not the problem.
The problem is simply, Kid’s Combo’s…we don’t have any.
We emptied the warehouse for those folks hit by the Christmas tornadoes a year or so ago, did so thinking we would just restock but the industry has changed some, we have money but the cost to get a Kid’s Combo…doubled.
Distribution is an issue, knowledge of who we are handing the rods and reels to also an issue, I’ll leave it at that.
Every time you make a donation you should know this: We have no overhead, I work out of our guest bedroom, no one takes a salary, we did have to buy a printer last week because our $89 one finally died.
I’m telling you all this because I have to make some changes.
I need the BASS clubs out there to be our eyes and ears…and point people. You folks know your neighbors, you know who needs what and where they are and how you can get the stuff to them.
I want to set up a nationwide network of BASS Nation folks, people I trust and respect, who when the proverbial crap hits the fan I can, if we have the inventory, drop-ship right to you so that you, as BASS Nation people can hand it to your neighbors.
If we don’t have the inventory on hand, if I have to I will have Amazon bring it to you.
Please let me know if you could lend a hand, or if you happen to be building kid’s combos in your garage, I’ll take them.
