Installation of New Motor Guide Trolling Motor

Post by TDawg »

Hey all I am installing a new Motor Guide TR82 Digital Guardian Trolling Motor on the Ranger along with a new TH Marine male and female plug. When I bought the new male plug for the motor I saw that it came with two sets of jumpers (a little piece of steel that goes between two sets of screws). My question is do I have to install these with the new plug? The boat has a two wire 24v system on it with the batteries wired together in series. The old plug did not have these jumpers on it and I don't understand why the new one does. Can someone please help a nutcase out?

Also, what guage wire should I use to wire the batteries together in series? I was thinking 4 or 6. Is that too big?

Lastly, does installing this plug on the trolling motor viloate any warranties?

Thanks,

Good Fishing,

using the jumpers across two plug pins will divide the current across two instead of just one pin and keep the heating from high current flow down . You will need to wire both the plug and receptacle in the same way . The battery jumper pos to neg for 24v should be the same size or larger gauge than the wires running up front to the trolling motor
