Pretty sure I've seen this before, but Friday while observing a 4lb male and 8-10 lb female on or near a bed, every time I placed a bait on or near the bed, the male would come check it out constantly, but if the female wanted to check it out, the male would get between the female and the bait, and gently nudge her away. This went on for almost 2 hrs. They didn't seem bothered by my presence, but knew I was there. Funny thing is the female would swim to the fallen tules and wait like she knew she was safe there (or it could've been a shade thing). A few times she got to the bait but it wasn't a color to aggravate her. Just thought it was interesting to share this observation. Oh yeah, this probably wasn't possible to observe for that length of time without power poles.

Interesting Observation
Re: Interesting Observation
I've seen similar behavior and it changed my mind about fishing beds with spawning fish.
