Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing in response to your firing of Don Imus.
First of all, let me state my position on what he did.
I think he made a shameful, potentially hurtful remark, even though I don’t think he was intentionally attacking anyone at the time. He, just like all of us, should make a greater effort to behave civilly.
Probably more so due to his potential influence on many people. The hip-hop community, who’s words Imus was merely parroting, should make an even greater effort as their target audience includes many more young people than Imus could ever reach. But that is not my point.
What you did, or rather didn’t do.
You, MSNBC, nor any of the other media agencies that have been covering this story have had the fortitude to address to most important consideration that is greatly at risk due to this kind cat fighting.
The First Amendment!!!
Why has something so important as freedom of speech been completely overlooked here?
I am sending this letter in e-mail form to everyone I know and asking that it be passed to everyone they know as well.
I request a complete boycott of CBS, MSNBC, and any affiliation of thereof. At least until the the possible impact on freedom of speech that issues such as this can cause are given as much airtime as Al Sharpton was granted.
In fact why don’t you let Sharpton comment on his feelings about the First Ammendment and how it would best be preserved.
The world is full of idiots like Imus and Sharpton and it would be stupid to allow their squabbling to take down the single greatest freedom of the American People. Or any freedom of any people for that matter.
Please make a stand for freedom!
Sincerely, your name here
Its about freedom of speech
It’s not about freedom of speech
I’m sorry but when the Founding Father were writing about “Freedom of Speechâ€
