Jackall Flick Shake

Post by jazzwannabe »

Are they heavy enough to cast weightless on a baitcaster, like the 5 inch Senko?

They can be. The largest weight is 3/16oz & largest worm is almost 7".

Not for me. They probably weigh similar to a trick worm. I use 'em on a drop shot and with the wacky jig head mainly.

Definitely not a "weightless" bait. But, honestly this bait is probably one of the best fish catching baits across the country.

Also, the bait was not intended to be used on a baitcaster, the whole design and action of the bait requires a light spinning rod with a really fast tip so the bait doesn't move much when you shake it.

I think you would end up losing the action of the bait from the line, the fall, and the tip of the rod. Best used on a spinnerbait, you can get a better vertical fall, use light line to allow that bait to shimmy on the way down and shake it just enough to wiggle it and send out a vibration not really moving the bait to gain realestate

jazzwannabe,

I have been using the Flickshake for four years now!! I have thrown it on nothing but a baitcaster, first the old little green curado 100 and now the new ones, paired with a lamiglas 664
and 10 lb P-line Flouroclear.

I can attest to the fact that I have one 10+ and multiple 3-5 lb fish with this bait,but...................not weightless and not on a jackall head but rather a pepper jig head. Why? the pepper jig is better built, has a better weedgaurd that can be trimmed and hooks the fish in the side of the mouth 95 % of the time.

I found the jackall heads tend to get swallowed like a weightless senko has the tendancy to do.

This setup is my go to fish catcher!! I use the same setup and line everywhere from Pardee to Clearlake, the only exception is the Delta I will step up to 12 or 15 lb Flouroclear.

I use these baits almost to exclusion with newbie fishermen. The rod I set up my clients with is a Loomis 820s (their lightest dropshot spinning rod). I use 10 pound power pro and 8 Seagaur Carbon pro for a 6 foot long leader( ya just don't want the knot in the reel and the dbl. uni knot from 8 pound isn't as obnoxious going through the guides.) Don't worry that other guys are down to 4 pound to get bit I have never noticed a difference in not getting bit because the fish can see my power pro. I wacky dropshot the baits. I do best with the 4.8 sized bait. While I have my favorites the colors are all good. I belive there is actually squid scent on or in these baits? All I know is I opened a bag of them and I had to beat my cats away so they must have a scent.... The larger baits could be used like a senko but then why would I do that when I have the senko on another rod ready for you to fish weightless. Right tool for eack job. Can't improve on the senko but I can use it's little cousin with great effect I just don't fish it weightless like the senko.
