JIG ? SPIDER JIG ? JIG ? SPIDER ? JIG ? SPIDER JIG ?
JIG ? SPIDER JIG ? JIG ? SPIDER ? JIG ? SPIDER JIG ?
I know I am cutting my own throat maybe , but. Why use a Jig anymore, when a Spider Jig / Hula grub ? will do more and just seems to be as good or better ?

Hey Jigs!
Let's do a double or nothing guide trip here on the Delta or ClearLake, I'll even give ya the front of the boat all day. You use the Hula, I'll use the Wadda. Guarrenteed, it'll be an expensive trip fer ya! HAR! HAR! HAR!
I believe both have their own unique place in our fishing arsenal and the results are different from lake to lake. Spotted bass, seem ta really love the action of that Hula grub. Yet at times, I can git just as many bites on a rubber jig, just by attaching a double tailed Yamamoto grub when fishing for them. When it comes ta largemouth, a rubber skirted jig rocks, 10 fold! It has nothing ta do with the jig itself, but infact the double tailed trailer and it's action!

Re: Hey COOCH !!
Dont take this wrong JIGS but CHICKEN HAHAHA Just giving you A hard time. I couldn't have said it better Cooch. Jigs flat out perform only once in A while on lakes like Shasta,Oroville , and Folsom have I had better days with the Hula Grub. They are almost always spotted bass to. Jigs use A Brown and Purple Rod strainer jigs with A twin Yammamoto cinnamon/Purple flake on almost any lake and you will catch fish.
Just my .02 cents

Re: JIG ? SPIDER JIG ? JIG ? SPIDER ? JIG ? SPIDER JIG ?
I tie my own jigs and I love to fish the jig. I have seen certain situations where the Hula Grub/Spider Grub is the bait of the day. I prefer the fall and action of a jig, the way the rubber or silicone flairs out etc; I tend to catch more on the jig but certain lakes will force me to fish the Hula Grub.
Jigs have more bulk than a HG. You can change the way a jig falls by trimming the skirt even with the same size head or adding a smaller/larger trailer to change the fall or action. The HG provides one action pretty much and fall rates are dependent on the weight used.
You can have more colors in a jig than the HG. Depending on what you tie or purchase.
There are rubber, silicone and combos of both on jigs. HG are all plastic either injected or poured. With and without salt.
You can shorten and change skirt and body colors on the HG very quickly. This helps me establish a base line color for what the fish want. It also provides a smaller overall profile than a jig at certain times.
HG can be rigged weedless by Texas rigging. You can also rig them with a football head, Arky head, Darter head etc; All will change the action of the HG.
Well thats about all I can say about jigs vs. Hula Grubs. I fish both and prefer the jig

Hmmm, now Bantam1 and I disagree on one aspect!
Last count I took of the Yamamoto Series 97 Hula Grub, 66 color variations! Now multiply that by the seven Series 11 Skirt colors, ya got 455 color combonations! You can have more colors in a jig than the HG. Depending on what you tie or purchase.
I don't think rubber jigs can come close!

Well tit fer tat! LOL
You can custom order ANY color from Yamamoto too, fer a price and minimum count, just ask Gene at the Hook! LOL
My point is, what the average angler has available to them off the shelf. I in all my years, haven't seen a jig manufacturer put more than 20, at the most, color combonations on the shelf or in their catlogs. Yet there are 66 colors readily available today for that Hula grub.
