Cachuma must be terrible...
as I am getting a lot of phone calls wanting to know what the heck is up! I am not fishing this weekend as I have to work both Sat. and Sun.....My last trip was the pits and I wanted to go home after 1 hour...Basically you might be able to get a "white skirt or shad colored" blade fish in the morning but the normal stuff isn't working at ALL. The topwater bite is nonexistant and it all boils down to either fishing a dropshot or dragging a splitshot in the areas that might likely hold smallmouth. The fish I caught on my last outing were puking up shad all the way up. 25 feet? The bait has taken the skinny shallow fish with them so everything seems to be revolving on the shad offshore. I wouldn't discount a buzzbait but it is not producing either quantity or quality. I hope you guys get lucky but truth be known I wouldn't waste the gas driving there...Hell Casitas is a better pick right now!

Re: Kelly Rippa
I would not hesitate to throw a white frog, rip bait or a swimbait into shallow cover. This was the winning pattern for the Anglers Choice last weekend.

Also....
A ripbait with a lip...Staysee or something might be the way to go instead of a blade. They were still turning off trout baits and not commiting as of my last trip there. The weather in Santa Barbara is pretty nasty today " Friday " it's basically raining right now and I had to go off the lake two weeks ago and get some hot chocolate and I was wearing my one piece overalls!
