Kipawa Propellers

Post by Guy Williams »

Has anyone had an issue with a Kipawa propeller on a Minn Kota, I heard that they were not working good with each other. Some say that the Kipawa killed their Minn Kota not long after they put it on. Any Pros or Con's?

I used one for about a year. Noticed a lot of vibration after a year. Put the factory prop back on and vibration disappeared. Motor seems to be okay.

I have been running one on my Motorguide since they first came out. Have not had any problems with it....I also noticed when I first put it on that I could get the sme speeds out of lower power settings.........so it seemed like it produced more thrust.

I had some of the same issues, bad vibes, could not get it to work on the higher speeds. the problem was when it work it worked well. The other issue I had was that the prop will catch the wind when you are moving or towing and you would see the prop spinning. I heard that it could burn out your motor. That I don't know. I still own one but have not put it back on my new trolling motor. I will put it back on when I go to the Delta or other weedy lakes. I broke my trolling motor another way not because of the prop.

Kipowa is a great prop. What happens with Kipowa they can get out of balance. The first time I used one I had a bad vibration at 50% or more. I took it off and went back to my Machette blade. After talking with Nick at the Trolling Motor Dr about it just in passing conversation he asked me to send him the prop. He balanced it for me and I put it back on. It worked great with no vibrations at all after that. If you are getting vibrations talk to Nick and see if he can fix it for you.

I had one on my motorguide worked great . It definitely needed all the help it could get. Minnkota is a champ don't need no more power, and it smokes through weeds. sell that prop on ebay
