Well, JC. Gwynne,a local guide that offered to take me out as his client cancelled, got me on some fish, but overall it was a tough bite. I learned a ton and after one day learned a lot of patterns, and how the lake would fish if they were more cooperative. He is an excellent teacher, which beats someone that just says "use this here and that there" without the reasoning! He was nice enough to drive me to scenic spots up Devils creek, and to spots to show me where I could do some decent bank fishing too. (You were right JC, that road held at least one lunker, I got her on that frog).
And this morning I witnessed a 8 pounder emerge, mouth wide open and seemingly in slow-mo, from the side with morning sunlight lighting her up! She inhaled my frog along with a ton of pod grass and came half way out of the water, but I missed the hookset ;(. It's a moment I'll never forget. Thanks JC.
Heading out for round two with Carlos, whom recognized me from the TexasFishing forum I post on and invited me out.

Got to fish it by boat three times now, wish I could spend more time here, just scratched the surface. Devils Creek Was awesomely beautiful.
Got my first Texan swimbait fish, on the jitterfish. Will post pics when chance comes up. Got 6 today, too warm for fall so the 70 fish days not here yet. Water is said to usually be 65, not 73.
Off to Lake Falcon tomorrow, Fork Fri. & Sat, Ray Hubbard on Sun. - Lord willing- T. U. L.
