In Short,

Concentrate on creek channels (Double) in back of canyons in a depth zone of around 24ft /5ft +- . Look for shad balls in that zone

Do the same on the east side, but look at the hill itself too determine how the creek comes in and meter it in the range of 14 to 30ft. You maybe 200-400 yrds from shore but their there. The creek itself may only have a wall heigth of 2ft to 8ft sides. The bass use these creeks for a freeway to the bank or their confort zone in depth. If you can find them in a creek. Their usually stacked. Use a plastic that is compact and add a chartruas tip (watermelon/Hint),

Duh! spoons (or other brands) and drop/shotting is deadly right now, about 50 feet of water. As the water get colder, the jig bite will improve a lot. Good luck.

I was out there yesterday and found MASSIVE schools of bait with FAT bass gorging on them. However ... I could not get them to hit the spoon. But they were taking the jig as I dragged it through there.

Right now ... you MUST find the bait on that lake or you'll struggle massively.

Look for the birds, they will show you where to go and then use your graph to determine depth.

Good luck.

In TheFLY post I didn't see anything about water depth. I did noticed that in Larry Hemphill's Post though. I didn't think you could see bait in 50 feet of water. My bad ;-) He was probably talking about finding them on the graph. Only TheFLY knows.

Actually, you can....

Wacky rig a Senko on a heavy dropshot rig using 12# test and a 1/2 oz dropshot sinker. It will get to the bottom quickly, then just pop your rod tip gently to create that classic Senko tail wiggle. This works with all size Senkos from the little 9J (on lakes like Oroville) to the big 9L's (on the Delta and Clearlake).

Or T-rig it with a bullet weight to get it down then fish it like any other worm. I've caught a ton of fish this way.

We were fishing 50 feet. Believe me, the bass can see and hear the spoon at that depth, especially mid-day!

LOL, Now that everyone posted in how to get a limit (8-10/+) this I would recommend in how to get one or two major bites.

Take the West side of the main lake and throw the Hud on flats, points or under water humps near Putah Creek itself. Start at the Northend of the lake and work south. Hint, watch for the birds and the birds will tell you where the baitfish are. Also, you can pay attention to the trout action. You may see it off of deep points or just inside of canyons. Attention too shad or trout action can depend on the weather and the direction of the wind.

Just another Idea for a bigger bite.

I agree, and I proved it today. 2 guys fishing hard - zero bites. Saw two minnow fisherman who said they caught a dozen but had no photos or fish. :D
