May 19
Dear Lake Camanche visitors,
Thank you for your interest in our lake. We understand there may be questions and concerns about the current water levels. We want to take a moment to explain the current situation and outlook for the summer.
Our lake is currently lower than other lakes in California due to its function as a flood control reservoir. Water has been released from the reservoir to make room for snowmelt runoff, and prevent flooding in communities downstream from the dam. We anticipate that there will be a significant snowmelt event in the coming weeks, which will cause our lake levels to rise significantly. We are taking proactive measures to prepare for this fast and considerable rise.
We also anticipate Camanche will be near-full by this summer and must take these proactive measures now in preparation for this event. Our agency has informed us that adjusting flows into and out of the lake considers various factors for the safest and most optimal outcome for the rush of water coming our way.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to a safe, enjoyable, and "full-lake" summer at Lake Camanche.
Sincerely,
The Camanche Team

Lake Camanche is filling up faster than the original projections! We originally got the estimation at 6-9 inches per day until July 1, it is coming in faster at about 12 inches per day currently!
Re: Lake Camanche Update May 19 UPDATE MAY 27
Hey Lake Camanche Visitors.
Just a heads-up here, water levels are rising so fast, that even in a matter of hours, some areas are going under. If you are camping in Primitive, please camp at least 50ft away from the waters edge. If you are swimming, please swim with a lifejacket. If you are boating, watch for debris, as the in-flows are very high right now.
Stay safe, and have fun at Lake Camanche!
