Launching in Taylor Slough,Delta

Post by alvyman »

My family and I will be renting a vacation home on Taylor Slough the last week of July and I am not a Delta regular.Could someone please suggest the closest launch ramp on the west side of Bethel Island to reach our destination?Would rather use conventional launch ramp rather than a sling or lift. After looking at a map(not sure how current it is)it looks like Mariner Cove Marina,Caliente Isle Y.C.,orNew Anchor Marina are the closest.Any suggestions and/or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Alvyman

Of the three ya mentioned, all which are on Taylor Rd, none of them have launching ramps, so ya will need to come over to the east side of the Island and launch out of Russo's, Sugar Barge or Beacon Harbor. All of these are just a short boat ride away from Taylor Slough, right off of Piper Slough.

Right before you cross the bridge to get to Bethel if you make a right , you can launch from Sunset on Sandmoumd..Then all you have to do is head underneath the bridge and you are back on Taylor Slough..Depending on where your rental is you shouldn't be too far from it, of course it is all slow water..Sunset isn't a bad launch facility, it can be a real horror trying to take out due to the current and tide..Sunset is probably closer to your rental than is Russo's, but in all honesty, having launched from both, I would go to Russo's..

You did not say what you were going to do with your truck and trailer? If I was going to launch and leave my truck and trailer out over night then the only place would be "Russo's". They can lock it up in the back and it will be safe.

There's no fish in the Delta, I would just stay home. Kidding, enjoy your stay.
