SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — Bass fishing tournaments on Shasta Lake are in jeopardy right now. Without much recent activity on the lake, anglers say it's a great time of the year for bass fishing tournaments.

One tournament was recently held at Shasta Lake, but another one set for right after that was abruptly canceled.

The anglers say a tournament with 300 competitors on 150 boats can bring $500,000 to $750,000 to the local economy, and they can do it safely with masks and distancing.
