Left Side Sidescan Problem

I have HDS carbon 12 with a totalscan transducer and the left side down scan image is not imaging as well as the right side. Ride side shows a lot of contour and detail but the left side image shows very little info. I have eliminated the possibly of the outboard leg blocking the left side imaging by running the sounder with the outboard complete out of the water. Any suggestions on what my problem might be? The transducer is only 1yr old.
