So are you saying that anyone who cashes a check or even fishes in an event solo should be suspect? I think Mike Long has more than proven his abilities and I can't think of any instance that I have ever heard a negative/dishonest thing about the guy. I'm not looking to start a s*!t storm here it's just that your post reads in a pretty accusatory fashion....but maybe I took it the wrong way?

Rich, I feel the same way about the CBC.

You are so off base about only winning solo. You are lucky he did not fish with John Kerr, which he's done often, and ended up with another 10 pounds at the end of the day? Guess you lose either way. THEY usually beat out the competition by 10 lbs, and no, they don't always win, just usually. Solo or together.

All I need to get into the money would be the four I usually get along with a 20# kicker.

I usually do not get in on post like this, but as afisherman and a tournament director I decided to.
First I would like to congradulate Bill on trying to fix some problems in tho WON rules.
I agree with most because one person was caught cheating not all of us are cheaters.
As for fishing solo in a team tournament most teams committ to fish all the tournaments but things happen sickness, deaths, family business and ect.
So one team member would have to fish alone. That is know big deal unless they make a habit of it. Then the turnament director and WON staff handle that situation.
There have been a lot of situations suggested.
1, A one pound penalty, on Lake mead that could keep you from having a chance to win or even place in the money so why would I want to fish. Odds are a solo fisherman will be handycapped enough.
2. Raise the limit that will not work as on Lke Mead the National Park Service will not issue a permit to a team tournament unless it is a five fish limit.
3. Do not let him fish alone, that is wrong because why would I committ to fish a trail with a partner knowing that if any hting happend to me or him we could not fish.

I agree with Rick G. don't make so many changes that you turn the anglers away. With the execption of a few anglers we fish team tournaments to have fun, see lots of friends, spend a day on the lake to have fun compete against other teams. We all know that know one will ever get rich fishing team tournaments.

To build up particapation you need to put out a good product , give the best service possible, try to give out decent pay backs,

Just one last thought if you have a bushel of apples and there is one bad one do you throw out the whole bushel, or get rid of the one bad one and hope that rest will survive.

Hey Rich...

Glad to see you understand where I'm coming from. I understand what you meant by the quote now. Makes sense. Still sucks they died though...

Dude, there is no way I have a personal issue with you. No way at all. We all have our opinions and that is allright... And nobody can really knock anyone for em'.

Yeah, I may have an issue with WON and how they conduct their business, but that is MY issue, and I realize that I am probably in the minority as far as that goes. I hope people don't shun me for having a different opinion than most but that's the risk I take, right...?

I'm all about havin' fun as you said, and that's what it's all about. I apologize if I offended you Rich, or anyone else, as that is not why I post up here. I know some of the 'dirt-stirrers' out there and try to separate myself from them when it comes to expressing myself about issues such as this one. I guess I'm the kind of guy who want's rules in black and white. It just seems to make life easier.

Regardless, I'm sorry if I pissed you off. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about this, and as far as the whole 'charmed life' thing, that is my whole goal in life. Who the hell would'nt wish for that...? PM me anytime, Rich. Maybe sometime, I hope, we can shake hands... ChrisR

since I have been getting a lot of calls about "Is National Bass West going to allow anglers to fish alone?"......I want everyone to know that National Bass West has "cleaned house" and YES those who are not banned from NBW CAN fish alone if they want to.

Over the summer time there were a "few" issues that needed to be dealth with and that we did. It is all good now and we are ready to start the new season.

We are looking forward to starting the new schedule mailed out, with the 2011 TOC date already booked......October 14/15, 2011 at LAKE HAVASU, with some new sponsors, with a new Clear Lake Region director (Hello Craig Timm and thank you for a good job Eric Parra we know that you will do a great job for WON as one of their new directors...we will miss you!) and Mike and I are going to start running all of the southern events including the San Diego Region where we started from , I suppose that is a "full circle" moment.

See you all at Havasu in a few weeks. Hopefully you all received our new 2010/2011 schedule in the mail. If you did not, you can visit our website at www.nationalbasswest.com and look on the RIGHT hand side for the link.

Enjoy the sunshine,

Lynne
