That's not a fair trade!
Why would a true swimbait fisherman want to TRUST you with that kind of info...you would just report it.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Onemorebass..you are totally clueless......Mark can beat just about any swimbait guy with his jigs....I don't understand how you can fault Mark for posting fishing reports...I hope your post is a joke...
This website was started to help the average angler who needed a little extra info.. If you don't like anglers posting what they do, then PLEASE go to another website...or don't read the reports...Why do you think there is a reports page...
There is no real secret to using a swimbait..just be persistent and it will work..It isn't a bait for numbers but for quality...Today I had a huge striper try to eat a Spro trout swimbait at Millerton and there are no trout in that lake...

I think the real question is why would a swimbait fisherman that knows Easman possibly want to show you how to catch fish on his waters. Youll have to find somebody who doesnt fish Eastman, but who knows how to fish swimbaits.
And usually by time you figure out swimbaits youve long since figured out jigs.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Why would I want to trade for a jig lesson. So I can catch those avg. size fish all day long.
When I can catch jigs fish with the best of them.
When I can catch 5 fish for 45 lbs. Like a 13,10,9,7,6 on swimbait.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Ok, I was playing the devils advocate. I guess what I was saying is I dont know any swimbaiter who would show somebody how to catch swimbait fish on a body of water that they themselves consistently catch swimbait fish at. You know the lake very well, put the jig down and throw the swimbait exactly where you throw the jig; you can even work it the same as you work your jigs. Those big, swimbaiting eating fish are in the exact same place as your jig fish, always have been.
I know I got off subject from your question, so I apologize for that.
And to all my buddies, dont be hatin!!!

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Let's take a look at what is being asked and offered....A jig fisherman is willing to trade his "expertise" with a swimbait fisherman in return for some of his "expertise". Just sounds like one fisherman looking to expand his horizons and learn another bait. Why would any, unselfish person not take him up on his offer? I've always thought this site was created and maintained to share information, not hide it? I've run into a couple of guys from this site, who are 100 times better a fishing than I am, and they have all gladly shared information, even taken me to their honey spot.
I hope some swimbait "expert" steps up to the plate on this one. You never know, you just might make a new friend/fishing partner for many years to come.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
mark, could you give me that break down on which colors/styles you use for each season. i typically only throw a few colors of jigs all season, and don't really have a seasonal pattern with them.
Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Ok, then hows about taking me to your 75 yard area? We can do the swimbait thing.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
I think what a lot of people forget is how each skill is useful in different situations. A jig is a DEADLY weapon, look how many tournaments have been won on jigs, not as many as swimbaits, granted swimbaits are a newer technique.
You get better by learning, and someone looking to get some info and give some is hard to come by. Jigs are a big fish bait, swimbaits are a big fish bait....the 25lber wanted the jig.....well sorta

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
For everyone that has replied...you all have legitimate comments and great advice...but most of you do not know him personally.
For example:
He claims the fish he caught this year from mid-Jan to mid-Feb on three trips were not found in his reports and here's his exact reports:
OK GUYS THAT 12.03 POUND BASS I CAUGHT ON 1/29/06 IM HAVING IT MOUNTED IVE FISHED THIS LAKE SINCE 1973 AND CAUGHT 11 BASS OVER TEN POUNDS OUT OF THE LAKE AND IVE PUT EVER FISHIN THE 1000 EVER CAUGHT IN THIS LAKE BACK EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE THIS WILL BE ON THE WALL IN MY OFFICE OF MY LURE COMPANY FOR ME TO ENJOY. THIS WONT DESTORY THIS FISHERY
Will today was another great day on the water dwayne lucckesi my fishing partner had and outstanding day today with a 29.5 pound limit his 3 biggest fih were 6.2,6.5,7.3 with a 5.5 & 4.6 rounding out his limit. We had 13 bass all together my biggest was a 5.3 all caught on lite green pumpkin with a ( yamamoto ) watermelon green red/black flake single tail 5" grub as are trailers.
I don't see 12.9 12.5 11.3 10.5 10.03 9.6 8.3 etc... his previous post he said he caught 21 over ten.
I would gladly share what I've learned about swimbaiting over the past 5 years, but those of us who KNOW this guy personally would not.
I do not have a problem with reports and posting, but when I do, I tend to have my facts straight.
So JT, I'm not clueless...just reluctant to give out TOO much information to the wrong person.

Onemorebass, why would you not want to hook up with someone who has fished that lake, or those two lakes for as many years as Mark? Do you think that you are so smart that any additional information that he is willing to provide would not be of use to you? As JT said, yes, you are clueless.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
Mark. If you have been fishing for so many years and know the lakes well just don't take ANY THING else with you but swimbaits. The fish will tell you what ,where and how by getting hits. You don't need anyone to show you a thing. Don't ever expect to catch fish. just be ready at all times for a hit. I still leave all other rods and lures at home. If you have that much luck with Jigs them maybe swimbaits will just hamper your fun.
Just go out and toss um.
Don.

Re: Lets trade jig trip for swimbait lessons !
I know Mark personally, have fished with him once, and against him in a few club tournaments. Mark fished Eastman in our club and before the tournament at our meeting he told us where he was fishing, what he was fishing(jig), and how he was fishing it. He and his partner still smoked us. If I had to choose between Mark fishing a jig for a week, and somebody throwing a swimbait I would take Mark any time. Yes you can have 45 lb days, but they are few and far between.
Mark, here's yer FREE Swimbait lesson!
Hey Mark, to hell with tryin' to make ammends with these guys that are giving you so much grief. I don't know you or them, only what I see written here and quite honestly I think a lot of it is BS.
Just remember one thing about most swimbaits, they truely are just a jig. Now, the bigger more expensive models of the past couple of years, are really more like crank baits. There's really no differences in the how too's or where ta fish these baits. Just take three rods with ya, One with a Slammer, AC Plug, Matt Lures, Rago Generics, Jeremey's Shell Cracker etc. tied on for shallow to surface fishing of swimbaits. Second, take a Huddleston, SPRO, R2Sea or other giant lipless swimbait for mid range swimmin. And finally take a Jig like swimbait such as an Osprey, Optimum, Storm, R2Sea Bottom Walker, Yamamoto, Osprey, Castaic, Megabait, Basstrix, Mission Fish, etc for top to bottom bouncing.
Just today, Gator and I tied on some of the Yamamoto Saltwater white swimbaits, it was the only thing we could git the stripers to eat this morning. They weren't big fish, but we had a ball fishin em. I tied one on last week for the first time. Every day out I picked it up and used it at some point on every spot. Today, we had the best success with it. Now, like the ripbait, hair raiser, spook and rattle trap, this bait will be one of my baits on the deck fer the fall stripers. A swimbait is very easy to fish!
The key is to just tie one on and go fishing. You know where the best bass hang out on those ponds ya fish, you can go out and cast fer days on yer own with out the help of these other guys! It's not rocket science, but a state of mind and choice of baits.
Good Luck to ya!

Whats with all the attacks???
WTF is wrong with you guys-if your not willing to share and learn each and everytime you come on this site your in the wrong place....thats what this site is all about NOT attacking someone like you are.....this guy is one of the VERY few people that post in the forum AND in the reports section.....why such a disrespect with him? If you have personal opinions or dislikes with him PM him or ignore him....this isnt the place for as Cooch put it "BS".I personally fish Eastman as often as I can and Mark has ALWAYS been willing to help me with my questions or offer advice. I guess it all boils down to what a "good" momma would tell their child-"if you cant say nothing nice then dont say anything at all". Dont be jealous of him and his knowledge guys-he is willing to share-USE IT!

Has anyone noticed that 'onemorebass' has no email account to reply to...I for one really don't care what his opinion is....He has only posted 8 times on the website, so who is he....I think he has some personal problem with Mark and isn't man enough to confront him eye to eye....Anyone who knows Mark knows that is a tall order... I have known Mark for 20 years...some times we have disagreed on things, but he is a standup guy..I find this personal attack by a website lurker to be just what it is, cowardly...
Mark isn't afraid to post his name, what is your real name 'onemorebass'....that way we all will know if what you accuse Mark of is coming from a real person or a shadow coward...

Re: Whats with all the attacks???
There are no 10 pound fish in there. Your scale must be broken"I have 5 fish over 10 in a water shed in San Jose. ( not bed fish either )..
Re: WE'LL STICK WITH JIGS
WATCH ME STRETCH (==========)MY ========NECK OUT THERE AND SAY.
WHEN THE SWIMBAIT CRAZE IS OVER WITH, JIGS WILL STILL BE THERE AS ALWAYS. PITCH IT, CAST IT, SWIM IT, DEAD STICK IT, DROP SHOT IT. THE JIG WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. LOTS OF 10LB PLUS CAUGHT ON JIG/JIGS.

I beg to differ with you Rex, I caught and released an 11.2 in Jan of 05 in that water shed. There are plenty of bigguns in there.

Dang-it Bassbones, if everyone keeps talkin' about catchin' big fish on the dropshot, people might catch on... I already have little chance, but "NO" chance is gonna be terrible...
