Which one is actually better? I am going to buy one tomorrow but which one???

More features and speed with the Gen 2, similar functions and slower but cheaper with the Gen 1. Depends on your budget. You can't go wrong with either Lowrance unit.

I think Ken was thinking you asked which HDS to buy, Gen 1 or Gen 2 since that was his answer.

Regarding the LSS-1 and LSS-2, I would suggest the following:

If you want to mount it on the transom, jackplate, splashplate, or anywhere else there is enough room for the larger LSS-2, then get it since it is newer and better.

If you plan to mount it on your trolling motor, I prefer the older LSS-1 as it has a smaller transducer. It doesn't produce quite as good of a picture, but it is dang fine and it fits on your trolling motor better since it is shorter.
