Looking For Info On Bullet Bassboats

Post by aNNieNsaLTIE »

Anyone local has experience with these boats? Would like some feedback on how these boats handle our local bay area waters.

I usually fish the Ole river, Clear lake, Berryessa, and a few others. I do run a vacation trip up to shasta, trinity, folsom.

How does this boat handle our local water? I am looking for a 20' size. wondering what your guys experiences are.

Who sells them?

Thanks,
Steven

Just bought a 1996 20xrd. Yesterday was first time out on the delta. Handled GREAT. Very stable fishing. The only problem is it is Purple. I was very pleased with the boat. I have owned a Ranger and two Trackers and I would rate this very high. Bob

Steven,

I had a 20 XHD for four years. It's not only a quality boat, but a fun boat to own. It's a fast boat because it's light and made of Kevlar. Most of the time I had no problems with big water and windy conditions. Remember, when buying boats you always have trade-offs. Running a little slower those few times when I had to, was a trade-off I was good with. Overall great boat.

Also guys... "Toys of Troops" is being held by the CBAF at Russo's (on the Delta) November 7th. Your participation (and toy) not only supports a great cause, but it's one of those fun tournaments that you don't want to miss. :)

Great to hear from you Herb. I loved that Bullet and I hope that it won you as much money as it did for me.

Steven - Great boat... You can probably pick up a pretty good one in todays market. If you have any specific questions just shoot me an e-mail.

Try Fastbass.com. Bulletboats reps as well as the guys that set records in the boats hang out over there. Not to mention guys that run on big water constantly
the BBC is more of a club that no one actually tournament fishes, they talk about back 20 years ago when they were in a club.

I have owned a 20Xd and currently have a 21XRD. The 20 handles great and will fly. 83-85 loaded with a 225 potential for 100+ with a 250.
Paul Nichols has driven the boat in stuff most people call 3-4 footers at 85mph. Read 2 footers.

I have been in all brands and I got a boat that doesn't offer sponsorships for a reason. Because I know the boat will get me back every day and I will be able to fish longer, because of the speed, and I actually get about 6.5-7mpg running 45-50mph. So if you are looking for a boat that will sip gas. I am getting these numbers with a 21XRD ( its 21'10 feet) and a 250XS.

The 21 rides like a caddy, the boat is almost 22 feet and it floats across the waves. I have been a passenger in about every boat and the Bullet is just head and shoulders as far as ride goes above everyone else.

The 20xd doesnt ride as well as the 21 but it screams. It will still easily ride and fish with every 22 footer out there.

The beam is 93. A lot of people wrongly think that a wide deck means a better ride, that is untrue. THe hulls of most boats are close. Its the LENGTH of a boat that makes it ride better.
The boats fish GREAT in the wind without getting blown around or feeling tippy.

Some Fallacies on the boat:
1. Needs to be Balanced- untrue if you want the greatest speed in any boat its helpful to balance the boat, but the boat will still run 80+
2.Doesn't handle in the wind- I run a 82lb trolling motor and I am barely using it.
3.Doesnt ride well in the wind- I will put the 21 against any champion and the 20Xd is close in the hands of a guy that knows how to drive
4. You can't catch fish in a "racin boat" Right: You can't catch fish at 65 mph either. However you can get to the waypoints throughout the day faster and using less gas thereby prolonging the amount of casts you make and saving $$
5. Rod are easily kicked off the deck- move your rod handles back 6 inches. If you can kick a rod out of a bullet you would kick them out of a Ranger with its 6 inch high sides
6. Narrow deck handicaps you. First you can fit 3-4 people on the deck of the 21 and 2 easy on the 20. Next you will love the fishing first design of the bow. Seems like everything is at your fingertips. You can cast to any target without getting up and walking to the side. You can flip while sitting on the butt seat and not worry about losing distance. As a USAF combat Pilot its as close to a cockpit if you will, of any boat out there.
