Lowrance iFinder GPS advice needed

Post by Chris B. »

I'm new to the forum and would appreciate some help. Got a new Lowrance iFinder H20 (mono screen) that I plan to use on lakes and the Delta. Today I loaded a Northern Cal map from the Mapcreate software and drove around roads in the Roseville area. I was bummed to see the GPS track sometimes way off of the roads I was driving--in some cases as much as 200-300 feet even though the GPS signals were strong.

For anyone who has used an iFinder H20, do you see errors like this on the water or roads?

Thanks much
Chris

I have one and have no problems with the accuracy. What was the error factor shown? I would call the factory, why put up with it. They are very helpfull and don't want problems.

Glad yours seems to work okay Ken.

Called Lowrance tech support today (on fone with 2 separate techs for over 45 mins total) and learned that the errors I am seeing are actually expected (to them). They say the iFinder software that "reads" the Mapcreate map data can show errors like this--I could give details he offered but he didn't offer any fix.

When i told him I've used many GPS products in the past and never seen these type of blatent errors, he said he didn't have expereince with others.

So, I'll take it out on the boat and try it. If the tracks it shows are not very well aligned to the map (i.e. if it shows me boating on a levee instead of in the water) then I guess I'll return this one and try another product.
