Lss1 and hds help

Post by brambo0311 »

I just had structure scan a hds 7 and 5 installed in my boat. Many things I can't figure out. My clock is an hour fast (same problem I have on every I have) lol. How do I change my structure scan side image to structure scan down? If I select 2 screens I get one with side image and one with down, but if I do sonar and structure split screens it's always on side image. How do I just run a full screen or split screen with down image.

When I change the rear graph to read the lss1 and thru hull it makes the front graph do the same. Then when I go up front I have to change it all around again.

For the clock, hit menu, menu, system and go down to Time and hit enter. Use the arrow keys to adjust the time.

When in Structure Scan hit menu, go to Structure options and choose the view you want.

When you choose the split screen, there is an orange outline around the window that is active. Meaning when you hit menu, the window that is active is the menu that will show up. To make the other window active, press and hold the pages button and the orange box will shift to the other window. Now when you hit menu you can change anything to do with that window, like changing the Structure Scan window from side scan to downview or back along with changing the pallet colors, range of side scan and everything else.

When you hit pages and that menu appears, this is where you choose what you want your unit to display, from full screen to any combination of split screens. Just scroll through the options, find the one you want and hit enter. To change again hit pages and choose a different combination until you learn all the options available.

Thanks. I figured out allot just by pressing buttons.

When I'm on side scan and find a bait ball and arrow over to it and hit way point, will my front graph pick up the way point? I have a navionics chip in the back and just the pre programed maps in the front. I turned off network units because the front unit keeps reading the thru hull puck. Do I need to turn that back on?

For your units to share waypoints you need to check share waypoints on both units. Waypoint sharing is done through the NMEA backbone so that has nothing to do with the sonar side of the units. To choose which transducer a unit uses, while in the sonar screen hit menu twice and go to network. Go to data sources and choose the transducer you want the unit to use and save your changes before you exit out of the menu.

Thanks ken. I know it's like playing catch with a blind man, but I'm learning.

How do I get to the NMEA backbone to select share waypoints? Can't find it.

I believe that way point sharing can also occur via the ethernet network via the LSS router???

To get your units to share waypoints, hit menu, menu, network, enter. Make sure "receive waypoint and send waypoint" are both selected. Do this on both units and you are ready to share waypoints.

If you have Structure Scan and set a waypoint on the structure scan screen and the above items are selected on both units you should have a waypoint at that long and lat on each unit.

It doesn't matter which sonar screen you are looking at, when you move the cursor over an object and hit waypoint, you are selecting that particular long and lat on the unit and it will share with the other HDS unit.
