My company is sending me to a conference in Orlando next week. Unfortunately, my schedule does not allow me to spend any extra time there, so I can't fish a major lake, like Toho. However, my hotel is right on the shore of a small lake that I'm told has bass in it, so I'm bringing a rod and reel and will spend a little time fishing it in the evening.
I need some help with lure suggestions for the small tackle pack I plan to bring. Right nowI'm thinking some 6" Senko's, creature baits, larger tubes, and spinner baits. Any suggestions on colors and other lures I should consider would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Mike

I spent some time on Toho last year around this time. The info I can give you is Senkos in rootbeer red/gold, any craw, tube or creature bait in emerald blue, white horny toad, shiner patterned spinnerbait GOLD blades. White buzzbait. They really seemed to like junebug red flake also... Good luck!!!!

Throw any color plastic worm as long as it's Junebug.
Senkos work very well in Florida. I was in Orlando a few years back before Senkos were popular outside of the west coast. The old timers were surprised to see me catch a 5lber before we even left the docks. They have never seen a Senko before...it was hilarious. I told them it was just a matter of time.
Fishing around alligators will take some getting used to. If you want to catch alligators, ask Gary Dobyns if they eat Snag Proof Tournament frogs..LOL

Take topwater baits Poppers, buzzbaits, frogs etc..Since you will be fishing in the evening thats all I would take. Watch your step gators and snakes are pretty prevalent around the lakes especially with the dry season they are having. If the topwater does not work go with a jerkbait or blade (gold colors are the ticket), then the junebug worm as a last resort. I would only take topwater if it was me, I spent many summers @ my gradparents homes around Orlando fishing those lakes and evenings and topwater to together like sweet tea and cornbread.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

Thanks for the replys. I appreciate the help!
The lake I'll be fishing is Lake Bryan. Its looks like its surrounded by time share resorts and pretty close to Disney world, so I'd be surprised if I need to be concerned about gators. But hey, I prefer being a predator instead of prey, so I'll be on the lookout for logs that move!
Thanks again,
Mike

My Dad lives in that area and he likes to swim watermelon seed brush hogs and flukes. He did say look out for gators! They are still all over the place form the hurricane.

I was in Orlando last week. Hot and humid! I only had 30 minutes to fish and caught some Alligator Gar. God, those things are ugly. Anyways, good luck and watch for them gators.

I agree I think you could be fine with some Senkos, a flippin craw or Beaver and a Topwater, like a buzzbait or Horny toad. That way you can just take some 3/0 hooks a packet of wieghts and some plastics.
That is how I would attack it! Perhaps a jerkbait or spinnerbug but I would imagine that the lake may be choked with weeds. MMMM frog-gign
