AGFC Black Bass Management
During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Major League Fishing swabbed bass over 7 lbs to collect DNA samples. This samples came from renowned fisheries like Lake Fork, Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Lake Chickamauga and several others. Of interest, 2/3 of the samples collected were from FX-FLMB fish, which are hybrids containing mostly Florida Largemouth Bass genetics with lesser amounts of northern Largemouth Bass genetics. Pure Florida Largemouth Bass (FLMB) made up a small percentage of the fish caught. The other categories of fish collected are F1, fish with 50% Florida and northern genetics, and FX-NLMB, which are hybrids with mostly northern Largemouth Bass genetics. These results are not too surprising. Stocked Florida Largemouth Bass often do not contribute much to the overall catch of a fishery, but are used to introduce their genetics into the population. AGFC biologists collect DNA data from fin clips to analyze trophy bass in Arkansas. Our percentages reflect closely to those found by MLF.

Hmmm....looks like proof that continued stocking of FLMB where they already exist is a waste of money.

Intergrade not hybrid.
F1 1st generation Florida and NLMB, both are Largemouth bass the same species.
