Yeah ! You guessed it, I had hair down to may *** and spent a few days getting gassed on Telegraph Ave in Berkley, Trying to bring it all down baby in the late 60's. But being a nut of self conflictions, i did try to join the navy and was set to go, when I was un-expectantly turned into a 4 F in 68.

Some were along the line I grew up, became a Dad, payed my taxes, raised a family. I think being self employed while being Married to a good woman for 34 years had a lot to do with it !

Now as far as politics goes, I can honestly say, that I am a fence sitter and vote for the person that I think will do the best for my Country and family.
Although I am a registered Rep.

So what do ya think ? Do we need a hawk or Rooster guarding our Hen House ? Please YOUR OPINION DOSE MATTER TO ME!!!!!!!!!

It really took me a few days to come up with a good answer for you. I must have started to write something four or five times but then I remember LTC Dave Grossman words and the way he puts it is a lot better then I could do.

I took the below oath the same as many enlistment and officers took to defend United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. This is the same oath the McCain took.

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Although I have always behaved in a way to avoid violence if possible in my life, either by conchies or moral recognition to the fact that in most cases it serves no purpose.

I don't view my self to be a Sheepdog or a Sheep, but as you said, my actions would be dependent on more than likely extreme provocation to react as you say !

I am very aware of what is going on around me here and when I traveled in Europe and other Countries, too see how America is considered to be the Great Evil Empire and that all who inhabits, should either be converted or killed. These feelings and convictions were shared by many as long as 40 years ago and recent as well. To be thought of as the "Ugly American" shook me out of my pacifism and made me realize that for most we as a nation of people live in a Box of non belief that there are many in this world who hate us simply for who we are, our religion or political beliefs and to the simple fact that we have the right of free will that is not governed over by socialism or religious ideology. To see England and other countries slowly being taken over by a people of emigration, who can only quote radical religious dogma, as a way of life and thought, to the point that it oppresses all others by wearing a explosive vest in the name of there God ???

These are some of the reasons that I feel it is so much more important to consider and keep safe what is within our own borders, rather than be the savor of all the worlds problems in the name of the spread of Democracy.

I think we as a Nation some what woke up on 9/11 to this fact ! Even though prior we had Columbine High School, The Federal Building Bombing In Oklahoma, The Uni-Bomber, Reverend Jones In Gianna an a Host of other atrocities as a result of THE WOLF RUNNING FREE ! To me these actions were a result of Mental Illness and not what is wrong with our society as a whole, although I am sure that there are many who would disagree.

Marty, Those were some strong words and I will consider them ALL. I am still trying to come up with reasons as stated in my original question ! My vote will be safe in knowing that we live in a troubled world governed over my many Mad Men who would have no trouble or pause in thought to wiping us off the face of the planet too every last man, woman and child !

I for one, Deeply Appreciate that there are those like YOU WHO ARE SHEEP DOGS Guarding Our Nation Of Sheep, and it troubles me deeply that we do not have the collective conchies to be aware of it except to notice events Like the Rodney King Beating, Jena 6, O.J. Simpson, Paris Hilton, Janet Jackson's Tit or Who is getting fired as a foot ball coach by Davis.

I and my family sleep well at night, knowing that there are Sheep Dog's Like You who sleep with one eye open and a ear cocked !
