McCain Speech

Post by getalife »

Cindy didnt inspire me at all, but John hit it out of the park. I think this should give him at least a 10 point bounce in the polls.

I think Cindy's speech was geared toward the idea that OB's wife has **** going for her in accomplishments toward humanity if thats the word.

Great bnunch of speeches preceding Cindy and John but they both failed miserably. What a dull ending to an otherwise good convention. Milk toast at best.

I found nothing dull about a war veteran speech who risk his life for his country, served in political office for over 20 years, and explained to the nation his passion, hopes, and desire to lead our country into the 21st century.
No, it didn't have the Greek pillars, flashing lights, or a crying Oprah Winfrey and glamor we seen a week ago putting a unqualified presidential candidate on a pedestal, but the contents of his message was very clear.
McCain will carry scars of his horrible experience during war the rest of his life (as with all veterans), and at 72 years old continues to fight and honor the country he loves in good times and bad.
You definitely missed the point if you found the contents of that speech dull.

There was very little point to catch. I admire the hell out of the man. Everyone does. But his speech sucked. He had no consistent thread throughout his speech you could hang on to. Most every political commentator agreed it wasn't a good speech, even the conservatives. You surely didn't see this board jumping with "BRAVO"'s the next day as you did with Palin's speech. You're using McCain's service as a crutch for a good speech? So you're saying, "Because of McCains service and accomplishments in the 60's and 70's he can do no wrong?"

I just saw Obama on TV saying McCain was not good on energy because he voted against bio-fuels. That would be the ethanol subsidy that drove food prices up 10 to 20 percent this year. McCain hit energy and wants drilling, nuclear and all of the feel good alternatives as well. He should have shoved ethanol up Biden and Obamas rear in the speech. The dems are not looking good and Obama talked like a defeated bullsheeter and he is.

Very true. If he carried an energy independence theme throughout his speech he could have knocked it out of the park. He could have had offshoots from it but returned to it. A good speech in my opinion could have boosted him 5-10 points. A lot of people including myself are looking for a reason to vote for him. His choice for VP just floored me though.

I have never seen some people throw up the prisoner of war thing like you republicans. Yes he was a prisoner of war and I can think that he was a good american for going thru what he did. This does not make him more qualified for president though.

If this criterea is that big a deal he would have won the nomination instead of George Bush especially since Bush's military records were "mysteriously" lost.

Instead of nominating McSame, the republican party smeared the man to the point of him almost going over to the good guys (democrats). They accused him of being a traitor, of being gay and having kids from a prostitute. Is this the man or the party we want to lead our country.......I THINK NOT.

Personally i don't give a rats *** either way about his war record. Wether he served in Nam too me has no barring on if McCain would make a good president or not. Lincoln didn't Roosevelt didn't either.

So I wish every one would get over about the fact of his past war record and focus weather he would be right for our Country at this time in todays situations.

Cops and Firemen risk their lives every day to serve and protect us, and they are not running for President.

Who has the best answers is more too the point !!!!

Even though I have been a Republican for most of my life dosen't for a minute make me vote like one !!

We will see who says what at the Debates. To me that is when they will show what they are made of !

McCain has never been accused of being a great speaker. I thought the delivery was good... for him. It was not the southern baptist style sermon we see with barrack, but did you listen to the content? I was moved. Not by the POW stuff, you're right, that may be a little overplayed, I was moved by his commitment to making this country better. When I hear Barrack, and see the little smirk on his face, I am reminded of the guy who sold me my first car... boy did I get taken on that car!

I don't trust Barrack for a second and I have no reason to disbelieve all the negative things I hear about him and his associates.

Watch the speech again on youtube and tell me what you find offensive about the CONTENT of his speech.
